Claiming Filoni "only knows how to reference Star Wars" when every show he's worked on from The Clone Wars to Rebels to The Mandalorian to Ahsoka features homages and references to Greek mythology, westerns, samurai films, The Lord of the Rings, and the literal Bible is an insane take.
Darth_Bart@darthbart.bsky.social · 19h agoThe best Star Wars takes inspiration from other things. So, Treasure Island via Star Wars works like peanut butter and chocolate. Whereas Filoni, Abrams, and (to a lesser extent) Favreau seem to only know how reference Star Wars.
Skeleton Crew ruled. Tons of fun. The problem is, as I’ve said before, Star Wars fans are very good at articulating what they want and very bad at wanting what they’ve articulated.

A simple story almost completely separated from the wider Saga that focuses entirely on new characters. But y'all didn't watch it so you think Watts can't do a SW movie.
Too many of y'all think "Writer writes bad movie so no good writer." Writing screenplays in the studio system isn't write, hand over, done. It goes through a lot of changes with a lot of different people. Kinberg is barely responsible for any of these movies being bad. ESPECIALLY Fan4stic.

He's "unproblematic," he's made a lot of the right friends right from the jump and he's produced lots of hits.

Jon Watts IS a talented director who makes really entertaining films. Cop Car, his Spider-Man films, and Wolfs are a testament to his talent. But Skeleton Crew (a series where he and Christopher Ford were the main creatives on) is the ultimate audition for doing a feature and he aced it.

Nathan Goldwag @goldwagnathan.bsky.social · 3d agoI'll admit, part of why I'm so skeptical of the emerging realignment thesis of this election is that it just seems so *random* that it would happen NOW, after ten years of Trump being a remarkably consistent public figure and ten years of remarkably consistent political trends.
So many people hated this show but Boba's characterization was completely in line with Boba in the produced and the unproduced Clone Wars cartoons. Seriously, look up the animatics for the unproduced Boba episodes.
Ren@ren136.bsky.social · 2d agoShare a show that no one could ever make you hate! It wasn't perfect but I really enjoyed the book of boba fett. I loved the characterization of fett and seeing him rise from bounty hunter to crime boss was cool to watch.
One of the post credits scenes in Endgame Encore is clearly a direct scene from Doomsday and there is a very obvious uptick in visuals and direction from the Russos' previous MCU efforts. The scene was very J.J. Abrams-esque in terms of how the camera was moving. Loved it.
I saw this almost entirely just to see Endgame again. But that bonus footage Jesus Christ…
