"PRESIDENT CURTIS" feels less like "RICK & MORTY" than it does like an early-2000s MTV project (laudatory) or an 'adult humor' cousin to "BILLY & MANDY" - straightforward "Saturday morning but Rated-M" comedy stuff. Notable and cool that a genre series centers an older Black male protagonist 👍

oh my god: a trump-endorsed candidate lost the GOP primary to a guy who suspended his campaign last month: www.politico.com/news/2026/08... trump completely washed, juiceless, cooked, it's over, lamest of the lame ducks, many people are saying it

Seems like an upset might be brewing in the GOP primary in #MI08 to take on Dem Rep. Kristen McDonald Rivet. Trump endorsed Amir Hassan, but he currently trails an absolute nobody who suspended his campaign a month ago by a wide margin.

I was watching Elvis on the Ed Sullivan Show while picking listening examples for class this fall, and my daughter was like, who is this guy? I couldn't explain. I was just, like, he was like the Beatles or Michael Jackson or Taylor Swift back in the 1950s. She was like, why?

I watched "Now You See Me" for the first time the other night and found it a fun little popcorn flick. My best friend made fun of me for liking it *so much* that I have now been negatively polarized into making the film a huge part of my identity.

Is it wrong that I'm judging Miller for the obvious AND Moreno for not just straight-up destroying him? I thought Republicans were supposed to be the "If someone ever did that to MY family...!" party. Well, he's doin' it, Bernie 🤷‍♂️

Sen. Bernie Moreno said Rep. Max Miller refused to return his granddaughter’s favorite blue bunny. Reports also show that photos of a syringe and 150mg weed gummies were found in Miller’s bedroom.

it's fascinating watch them throw everything out at miller all at once since the deadline for him to withdraw from the race is like tomorrow, instead of parcelling it out in increasingly-damaging leaks instead

Nintendo needs to start putting more of its glup shitto games that only freaks like me care about on NSO. They could release the entire bit generations series outside of Japan for the first time right now if they wanted. They're already in English

Leave it to Sawant to be the sorest loser tonight in a crowded field. I give her four Brianna Wus out of four for her dismal matching of campaign and constituency; just a disaster waiting to happen, ready to blame everyone but herself.

Sawant campaign subdued as results come in

Kshama Sawant gathered with a clutch of advisers after Tuesday’s vote count came in, showing the socialist former Seattle City Council member running third in the race for Washington’s 9th Congressional District.

Then she railed against her opponents, blaming union leaders for endorsing U.S. Rep. Adam Smith, the incumbent Democrat; “corporate media” for their coverage of the race; and another opponent, Melissa Chaudhry, for splitting the leftist vote.

Smith had 51% of the vote Tuesday night. Republican Doug Basler had 24%. Sawant had 13%. Chaudhry had 11%. The district includes parts of Seattle, the Eastside and South King County.

“Shame on Melissa Chaudhry,” Sawant shouted, to boos and hisses from the crowd.

“You can’t only run campaigns that are safe because that is where the sellout begins,” she added. “If we cede to a feeling of demoralization than we let the capitalist class win.”

I know there's some complaints that the climax of this one goes a little too MCU-safe CGI overload, but I'm sorry man Shang-Chi merging the distinctive fighting styles of his father and mother into a new whole in order to explode a demon kaiju from the inside is some goddamn poetic cinema.

Rewatching SHANG-CHI, surprised to remember that it anticipates how gracefully DDC captures a truly 'comic book' feel to a shared universe. Stuff like the throwaway appearances by Extremis users, the Wong/Abomination drop-in, those feel like glimpses of a huge continuing world vs. disposable cameos.
