There are 2 previous historical cases of countries destroying their science and universities, crippling them for decades: Lysenkoism in the USSR and Nazi Germany. The Trump administration will be the 3rd. It's not just budgets but research, institutions, expertise, and training the next generation.

Is anyone putting together a symposium for #SESP2025 in 🇵🇹 Lisbon? I would like to go, but the symposium-only format is proving difficult. Looking to present grant-funded research on occupational moral roles, which also fits stereotypes, social categories, etc.

Why did we become convinced that the answer was always “disruption”, when experience tells us that the achievement of civilisation is the opposite? The move from chaos to organisation. The move from vulnerability to stability. Move carefully and fix things.
