The Learning, Understanding, Memory, & Neurodevelopment Lab (LUMeN Lab, Pl: Dr. Alexandra Cohen) in the Department of Psychology at Emory University (Atlanta, GA) is seeking a full-time Research Assistant (RA) to work on studies examining how motivation and emotion influence learning, memory, and brain function across development. The RA will gain experience with all components of the research process, providing excellent preparation for graduate studies. The expected start date for the position is Summer/Fall 2026. A two-year commitment is requested. Application review will take place on a rolling basis until the position is filled. Our new paper on aging and temporal order memory (with @jzacks.bsky.social) is now out in Psych & Aging! Using a narrative paradigm, we found that older adults have preserved event-based memory organization and show greater knowledge-related benefits in temporal memory than younger adults. 🌟

Years ago I started replying to keynote/symposia invitations with a provisional accept based on speaker diversity (I decline if ≥ 50% male speakers). Declines are rare but have happened. Receiving a follow-up email like this is so encouraging. 🙏 We CAN make a difference!

We are aware that you have been invited for a similar symposium a few years ago, and that you did not want to be a key speaker, since the panel of key speakers that time was not quite gender balanced (to put it mildly). I can tell you, that my colleague and myself were able to use your rejection (we were not responsible of the planning at that time!), to put the topic of gender equality higher on the agenda. For this year's symposium we will invite 5 speakers, for your information: so far, two women and one man speaker have already
