Not too long ago, I decided to use November to get back in the habit of writing daily. I'm not going to go for a full 50k words this month, but I thought it would be nice to try to write for 15 minutes a day. Surprise, it's November 1! Starting my first 15 minutes now.

Halloween dinner: pho-spiced pumpkin ramen. Not a new favorite, but good enough I'm glad I made it.

I don't get to do much for Halloween this year, but I did go to a horror lit event, help someone else prep for something tomorrow, and run a couple of errands, so I wore my witchiest dress and witch hat, and that was fun. Worth it just for the child shouting, "Mommy, it's a witch! She's a witch!"

The mouse on my work computer started behaving strangely, so I called IT to say I think it needed to be replaced. IT Guy: Have you tried changing the batteries? Me: It's a wired mouse. Him: ... Him: ... Him: I'll be right over.

I whined out loud, "How long until my dinner's done," and as I was walking into the kitchen to check, the timer went off.

The punchline here is that at the same time a weird passion project made for $200 by a mother and son who play every role in the movie themselves is a hit. People long for the weird and the human, and they recoil from AI slop

PSA from your friendly neighborhood eco-nerd: Fake Halloween spiderwebs are horrifically bad for wildlife. Insects, small animals, and birds get caught in them and die. Wildlife rehab centers see spikes in birds caught in the webs around Halloween. If you MUST use them, use them indoors ONLY.
