Unpopular opinion. even if automakers did “take the streetcars from Detroit” (highly debatable!), that’s not an excuse for 75 years of inaction. it’s a ridiculous story to keep leaning on and lets the entire political class and electorate off the hook for their poor choices

the hours of operation for the gordie howe bride multi-use path are out! and they're predictably terrible. 8am to 8pm and you have to be on the bridge 1 hour before it closes. so at the bridge by 7pm. so functionally you can't go to windsor for anything but the earliest of dinners/events

Piggybacking off this to ask: What are people’s favorite Detroit street names? There are so many good ones but my top 2 are Ironsides and Regular. We might name the kitten Conant (A street I lived off of, named for a prominent abolitionist who advocated for Black people to be able to own homes).

poll: what is your favorite street name in Chicago? [warning that if you reply you need to be prepared for your answer to be milkshake ducked]

Just saw a guy park a cement mixer in a bus stop and walk into a Metro by T-Mobile store. Sometimes the issue in NYC is that we haven’t carefully considered the needs of working people who need to drive to make this city run. But sometimes it’s just that we let people do whatever.

The Motor City identity is so deeply ingrained that if you start talking about improving public transportation and reducing the need to own a car, people here will look at you like you laid a rotten egg fart. It's actually offensive.
