Inspiration for me can come from a mix of stories some brilliant and some dog shit. To at least highlight the brilliant here: Stephen Graham Jones, Anne Rice, Shirley Jackson, Silvia Moreno-Garcia, Alix E Harrow to name a few. The gothic, the weird, and the unexpected have always drawn my attention.

The antagonist of this story is less of a character and more of the ever present heat of summer and its decaying effects. Trying to solve your own murder is made that much harder when the elements are doing everything in their power to turn you into bones. #BluePit #amquerying
