We’re having discourse on the ”Boots Theory”? Let me end it. Taken broadly, that it often costs more to be poor? It is correct. If you can’t buy in bulk or afford preventative care, for example, you pay more. Taken narrowly, that expensive things last longer proportionate to cost? That’s silly.
My posting got substantially better in the last 40 years.
Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.
Michigan primary update: I am trailing both the leaders by 40+ points each.
I’m not sure what Trump wants them to do here - when you cut the amount of a good from one region in the market, the artificial scarcity will make the price of that good go up, even if the cost to manufacture in other regions remains the same.

The AdForm malicious ad campaign highlights the complexity of adblockers - you have every right to be secure, but you don’t have the moral right to read a site you didn’t pay for. The ethical thing - and no one wants to hear it - would to use a blocker but not read sites they blocked things on.
Hey, so I’ll be at #DEFCON34 talking about the national fight against ALPRs with my @eff.org friends. (Friday 4pm @ Crypto / Privacy Village) But like, I need @404media.co to slow down its reporting, I’m trying to finalize our slide deck. bsky.app/profile/jaso...
New: Police are being told to hide the fact that they're using Flock to pull people over and arrest them in both encounters with citizens but ALSO in their official police reports: www.404media.co/do-not-menti...
When Uber moved to DC, lawmakers immediately loved it. If we ever want comprehensive federal oversight of autonomous taxis, we probably want it *before* they dominate the capital hill market.
“To me that would be even less opportunity.” Washington, D.C. lawmakers want to bring autonomous vehicles to the capital, a move that ride-share drivers & other workers say would inhibit their ability to provide for their families during troubling economic times, @evelazquez.bsky.social reports.

Gotta love the “or stocks” part. Like Gemini realized its first answer was nuts so it tried to wedge in a better one.
Look, there are two problems here: 1) There are people like me who find strategic maneuvering a lot of fun, and see getting into the weeds of theories of why players succeed and fail - and the transactions that validate them - as fun. 2) Sports aren't about fun. They're futures markets.
today’s NBA fans think about transactions way more than I remember in the past as everyone has a “great” idea for how to fix their team. but that shouldn’t be the driving force of your fandom. are we having fun anymore? my latest, free and unlocked for all: www.nytimes.com/athletic/748...
It's not the 40-something suburban socialists I think are most interesting. It's the middle-class wage-slave youth looking for an equitable marketplace - the Kia Kapitalists, if you will.
Nope, nice try. Not doing this to myself. You'll have to kill my ass

in insane local news, the 26 year old director of a rocky horror production was arrested for sending threatening messages to himself in order to get the play shut down bc he didn’t want to deal with cast drama www.mynbc5.com/article/rock...
I'll be honest. I can't think of news story involving an interview with a senator confirming breaking news about a zeitgeist-y topic that has ever been pulled from a news outlet.
One more interesting point: this spring I sat down with Sharyn Alfonsi of 60 Minutes for an extensive interview about my Epstein investigation. Subsequently, CBS pulled the segment and fired the reporter. The MAGA buyout of media has unquestionably aided the Trump administration’s cover up here.

Bombshell new report out from my investigators this morning spanning our four year investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s financial records. This report shows exactly how Wall Street protected Epstein and enabled his sex trafficking for decades. Mega thread following with some key points:
given some of the recent problems with hacked-account Gaza grifting, I’m not sure the site is ready to be more than a progressive enclave.
Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."
For the record, any time you call a woman you don’t know “baby”, I just assume you’re talking to me, Joe “Baby” Uchill.
I hate this shit so bad. SO bad. And when you tell them they can't do this, they get upset, but that's alright. I've had so many men block me because I told them not to call me "baby". Good riddance.
