All the Fauci stuff is a modern day version of the POW/MIA stuff after Vietnam - a way to try to rewrite the history of a huge failure of conservative ideology to be instead a story about how liberals and foreigners stabbed us in the back.

This hearing is driven entirely by Elon Musk's algorithm. Not a single normie voter alive today has thought about Anthony Fauci for at least five years. On X this is a pressing issue - maybe the pressing issue - of the day. It doesn't matter at all.

low info voters are constantly being convinced that Republicans have more moderate policies (and Democrats more left wing policies) than they actually do and the mainstream media is a huge accomplice in this effort.

Four years ago, Biden gave a speech warning about the dangers to democracy and the networks refused to air it because it was "political." I wonder if Trump making a partisan case for relitigating the 2020 election and calling for his political opponents to be jailed is going to be "political" too?

stuff like this is why one important avenue for court reform is just nixing the shadow docket altogether and forcing these people to explain themselves to the public when they issue orders. also, making their records property of the united states and subject to publication when they leave the bench.

One thing about the whole "we have to run rough-hewn manly dudebros to beat them at their own game" theory is this describes, to within a rounding error, zero notable Republican politicians.
