Anyone have any experience with lacquering? I pulled out our old built-in kitchen ironing board (thanks people from the 50s?) and the wood is marvellous. I wanna preserve it and hang it on a wall but I worry just slapping lacquer on it will destroy the label

Again very depressing how many beloved summer events are being ruined by scary weather. If you’re an organizer I’m sure you’re wondering if you can continue like this
Well. We are now evacuating Hawrelak park, in advance of what is shaping up to be a monster storm. Full credit to ETS, for running a calm and efficient evacuation with a zillion buses. Take care, #yeg.

if I ever taught film criticism lesson one would be “you being smarter than the movie is not interesting to anyone”

I think we’ve fully crossed the threshold from “this weather is annoying” to “this weather is genuinely alarming”
Severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the Edmonton area down to Calgary and from the foothills to the Saskatchewan border. #yegwx #abstorm

Central Edmonton after the freak thunderstorm. Passed half a dozen blocks/intersections like this on the way home
Jeez, from the post Malone show in Edmonton
This one is a little more chaotic.
It's still raining out there. #yegwx #yeg But as of 10PM Blatchford got another 15mm. That would push July close to 230mm. And 2026 overall will be around 620mm, which takes over as Blatchford's 5th most on record. public.tableau.com/shared/BPHF9...

RCMP said this is the first time they ever intentionally set fire to a home during a standoff. Never heard of any other police services doing this either.
