So the entire "establishment" backing El-Sayed so routinely is having dueling effects upon me. 1: It's mostly conciliatory, making me reconsider my own, "I won't vote for Republicans-In-Disguise" approach a little bit. And that's pretty much my whole current ballot. But also...

this name shit would be the perfect time for obama and/or mamdani to do a hit for el-sayed. "we've heard a lot of people attacking dr el-sayed over his name. well, for eight years they called me PRESIDENT hussein obama. and i'm MAYOR mamdani. so maybe its time for SENATOR el-sayed."

Agreed. Listen, I know the numbers aren't "big numbers." I know it was razor thin. But imagine if AIPAC didn't dump $30 million into oppositional stuff? How many millions does 1% of the electorate cost to flat-out buy? I know there's no solid answer there, and that's my point.

@abdulelsayed.bsky.social triumphing over something like $60 million, $32-ish million of it AIPAC money, is not a "narrow" victory, it's a people's earthquake. This kind of spending is oligarchy in action, to smother democracy through its formal channels, and is getting normalized. Still he won.

Nor do we want to be on Truth Social. I would hate to find a welcome home there. I would hate to be somebody who would be palatable to such a place. We don't go on Truth, because nobody needs bullies. They *do* try to come on Bluesky, because bullies need the rest of us.

The burden is always on us lefties to welcome them, debate them, compromise with them, find middle ground, and generally make them comfortable. It’s totally one directional. No one is calling for Truth Social to make any room for us.

One more interesting point: this spring I sat down with Sharyn Alfonsi of 60 Minutes for an extensive interview about my Epstein investigation. Subsequently, CBS pulled the segment and fired the reporter. The MAGA buyout of media has unquestionably aided the Trump administration’s cover up here.

Senator Ron Wyden@wyden.senate.gov · yesterday

Bombshell new report out from my investigators this morning spanning our four year investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s financial records. This report shows exactly how Wall Street protected Epstein and enabled his sex trafficking for decades. Mega thread following with some key points:

getting tired of people on the left still launching substack newsletters after all the reporting on that company in recent years

What can you do? CALL. WRITE. SCREAM. The bill is up for a vote THIS WEDNESDAY. Call your Senator. Dem. Republican. Whomever. Right now, it's a solid R bill, but they're looking for Dems to take it across the finish line. Let them know how badly it stinks. www.defendonlineprivacy.com/screen/

Being a Millennial is like saying, "Hey, bring back the Dell spokes-kid to start saying, 'Dude, you're getting a heart attack'" In fact, make him the guy for all age-related disease. Big public health campaign. "Dude, you're getting degenerative disc disease!" would be mine.

I got a flu booster today and it made me reflect on the sense of national accomplishment I felt when I drove to a public facility, waited in my car until my number was called on an app, and got my first covid jab. It's fucked the right gets to erase what a moment of technological liberation that was
