In collaboration with the Llobet lab in Barcelona and the NXR, we characterized a Xenopus model of Danon disease, a rare lysosomal disorder. Extra cool that the functional characterization was done during the Neurobiology course at @mblscience.bsky.social last summer!

New paper out 🚨! Excited to share this collab between my lab and @kerschensteiner.bsky.social's group, expertly led by Ning Shen. We used a genome-wide in vivo CRISPR screen to uncover novel neuroprotective strategies in the P23H mouse retina, with validation in a new human retina culture model.

One of our dissection scopes (rescued from another lab) has a knob that's very sticky. Asked Zeiss about disassembly instructions to clean it out and they pointed out that this scope dates to before the fall of the Berlin wall (and no documentation available). So, still working at ~40 years!

Just a heads up: I just got a phishing attempt pretending to be from the #VisualSystemDevelopment #GRC. It looked pretty convincing at first glance, so be careful!

Lots of very serious people are working on how to share big datasets across archives and rigging up all sorts of cloud proxy systems and bridges and whatnot and I am here to tell you that torrents with multiple webseeds have already solved that problem
