The toxic air our children were breathing was stunting their lungs. For too many young Londoners, that was the reality before the ULEZ. New independent findings show their lung health has improved significantly in Central London. That’s the difference cleaner air can make.

Introducing Ulez was my hardest decision as mayor of London – but now we know its astonishing impact | Sadiq Khan

Critics said I was attacking motorists. It’s more important for me that the city’s children are no longer breathing dangerous levels of pollution, says London mayor Sadiq Khan

£36 billion a year. That astronomical sum is how much the climate crisis could cost London by the 2050s if we fail to act. In June I set out London’s first city-wide plan for protecting Londoners and preparing for a hotter future. Our city is relying on us to act now.

Climate Change to Cost London Up to £36 Billion a Year by 2050s

Climate change could cost London as much as £36 billion ($50 billion) a year by the 2050s, the Mayor of London’s office said in a report.

Running around with your friends shouldn't leave you struggling for breath. But for too many of London’s children, polluted air was harming their health. Experts said it would take nearly 200 years to reach legal air quality limits. We did it in nine.

What ULEZ has done for children’s lungs should silence its loudest critics | LBC

Ulez's success must be a call to action to carry on in our efforts to improve the air in the UK, writes London mum and clean air campaigner Ruth.

If we don’t act, the climate crisis could cost London up to £36bn a year by the 2050s. After another summer of record-breaking heat, now is the time to adapt homes, neighbourhoods and infrastructure to be ready for a hotter future.

No platform should profit from racism. Tech firms cannot keep fuelling division while avoiding responsibility for the harm caused. It's time for real accountability and meaningful action. Solidarity with the players and fans who had to endure this hate during the World Cup.

FACT: the risk of flash flooding increases when the ground's been scorched by extreme heat. And we know something about that in London: five heatwaves, record temperatures, wildfires... We can't go on like this. Global leaders must heed these calls.

Putin instructs Finance Ministry to support regions facing severe budget deficits, indicating systemic vulnerability. Putin's support comes as regional debts reach 3.3 trillion rubles, with reforms including a 100 billion ruble fund aimed at addressing severe budget deficits. 1/6

Tonight BBC radio 4 ran an hour-long advert for “suicidal empathy” (the idea and book) on the Moral Maze, describing its author simply as a Canadian professor, without mentioning his enthusiasm for Great Replacement ideology nor calls for civil war in the UK. That does not seem ok.

Elon Must amplifying a tweet by Gad Saad “There will be civil war”

Musk’s comment: Civil war in Britain is inevitable. Just a question of when Tweet from Gad Saad:

What you are seeing in Britain is precisely what I have been warning about for decades. It is not rocket science. If you take two cultures that are fundamentally antithetical to each other, you'll eventually find out that progressive coexistence is not going to work well. There is 1,400 years of unbelievably clear data that Westerners are choosing to ignore. Read chapters 6 and 7 of The Parasitic Mind and it will all become clear for you. Cure yourself of Ostrich Parasitic Syndrome. See the world as it is rather than the Unicornia that you wish existed.

Turned on the radio this morning and today’s headline news was Reform’s plan to cut £50billion from welfare spending, quoting Reform’s claim that the current system is “suicidal empathy”. The BBC is again calmly reporting fascist ideas as if they mainstream.

Not keen on policy pledges. Setting yourself up to try to explain, with laughable reasoning, why you haven’t failed. In a different life, when I was a legal clerk, we never promised more than our best endeavours.

The fact is carefully checking other people’s work is hard, and academics are overloaded and not really incentivized to do it, which is how situations like Arday happen. It’s also why these people are often caught by a crank with an axe to grind, because they’re the ones who put the time in.

This is an industry where a professor at Kings claims it is credible that ethnic civil war will come to the UK, and where David Miller became a professor. But you are “deluded” if you think “it’s at least possible that the black purveyor of tall tales with a questionable PhD got there on his own”.

One of the things that has been lost in the culture wars is the reality of how chronic mental illness can be The way I’ve had to manage my mental health, the medical appointments and medication I’ve had since was a child, is no different to if I had a physical illness like diabetes
