Game dev working at Windup Minds and making a weird racing spaceship game in my free time. Sometimes I even feel like I understand unity She / Her Manchester, UK

Is it accurate? No. Is the trigger light and crisp? Good lord, no. Ah, but is it powerful? Also, no. But it's mine, and it provided me with such a much-needed mental health break to work on it, and I will be forever grateful for that.

Fitting that spring was THE sketchiest, scariest thing I've ever done, requiring balancing the cylinder / spring / pin guide tool inside a sash clamp and carefully tightening it until the spring goes in. It went in, EVENTUALLY, with four hours of pain and suffering.

A whole bunch of incredibly scary things attached to a ridiculously strong spring in a vice that could (and did, multiple times) ping out at any second with the force of an angry god.

0/10 do not recommend.

I'm not sure who will read this as it's not what I usually post, but recently I really needed to mentally disconnect from the [world nightmares of your choice], disappear and do SOMETHING with my hands for a while... I chose to refurbish this old Birmingham (low power, very UK legal!) air rifle 🧵

BSA Meteor air rifle photo from a sales listing, pre-refurbishmentBSA Meteor air rifle post-refurbishment looking rather shiny and satisfying. To me, at least.

As someone who used to work on licensed comics (Rugrats, Cartoon Network etc) it absolutely blows my mind that stuff like this is going out on official products. We'd get dragged over the coals if a spot colour was one Pantone reference out. Now? Sure, Donald has seven fingers. Why not?

that KH Switch collection pack thing sure has some interesting cover art interesting choice to give Donald a mismatched number of fingers on each hand, and a beak that absorbs into itself

I feel like AI is like watching the death of hundreds of art-forms simultaneously Like, yeah okay google being able to generate a stop motion video of how proteins work is superficially impressive but hasn't it just made all actual stop motion less engaging?
