Hey, Romancelandia, I have an unexpected gap in my calendar…so if you've been thinking about reaching out to me re: editing your manuscript, please do! I'm a gentle, supportive collaborator, and a goddamn delight to work with, if I do say so myself. More info about me here: JuliaEdits.com

I've given away almost 200 whistles via my little free library. Maybe you could put a whistle bowl in front of your house?
I love this comic! Also, if you need whistles, linktr.ee/3Dwhistles is still sending them. For completely free!
I'm posting this again for the morning people: Romancelandia authors/writers/etc., you do not have to use Substack, and in fact you should absolutely leave Substack. This platform monetizes white supremacists, so why do you want to hang out with a bunch of Nazis?
That's 100% why I created leavesubstack.com -- got tired of re-hashing the points; wanted to make a simple 1-pager.
Romancelandia folks, you can leave substack. You *should* leave substack.

A deep sigh & hearty "bless your heart" to the Romancelandia conference that wanted me to teach 3 workshops…& also pay the highest possible rate to register for the conf. I know everybody's working on reduced budgets & I'm def. willing to haul my ass cross-country to participate, but not like that.
Romancelandia, if you've ever enjoyed Bookstore Romance Day, please drop a buck or two to help its founder:

Ever since I read @weyodi.bsky.social's poem, I have been a huge fan.
In 2018 I won the Imagining Indigenous Futurism prize for my short story "Red Lessons". I ended up turning the short story into a three book series. Book One; The Root and The Seed and The Thief In Between is now is available in ebook format from Android Press. www.android-press.com/product-page...
I continue to gnash my teeth at the fact that Arthropic stole my editorial work when they ingested literally hundreds of books I edited, but I'm happy at least some authors will be getting some amount of money in compensation.
I am deeply sorry that this is not a result that everyone can participate in--there are so many people whose work was stolen who won't see a dime from this, so I know that this will be met with mixed feelings all around.
Would anyone like to grab a Jeremy Creature from my Big Cartel shop? I can mail them off tomorrow. Each creature is designed and hand-sewed by me and takes many hours to create. jeremycreature.bigcartel.com
This is why I won’t read your Substack, people.
And as a commenter welcomes, guess who just welcomed Andrew Tate onboard? Yep, Substack.
On the language of Homeric Greek, and the language of a certain forthcoming film: here are a few simple observations.
Writers, I highly recommend this ep which really dives into story structure. Lots of the thriller/mystery stuff applies to romance or provides a contrast that you'll find thought-provoking!
Once upon a time, Sarah went to Sweden and met a thriller writer who likes talking about the rules of writing in genre as much as we do. We’re so excited that to be able to bring Anders de la Motte’s brilliant thoughts about thrillers and mysteries to Fated Mates!
I'm looking forward to seeing The Odyssey, but they better do my girl right! (This is an amazing book that looks at the myth from a different direction. One of my top ten all-time favorite books!) amzn.to/4vy7oo3
Writers & authors, with all the nonstop scams going around, you should be aware of @victoriastrauss.com's heroic work at Writer Beware. It's sponsored by SFF by has great info for writers of all genres.

Ooh, I don’t know who you are, second-place person who bid on me, but I’d love to edit your pages!
Just sent out notices to second-place bidders where the donor offered a second opportunity for the next closest to the auction winner. Check your email (or spam) to see if you are one!
Your periodic reminder that if you use Substack for your newsletter, I do think less of you. There are plenty of other options.
Playing badminton with Mitch McConnell. We talked about the midterms and Iran. I took the first game 15-0 because he is unresponsive and lying on the ground.
Hey, Romancelandia editors/experts who do conference teaching/speaking: Do you always get a discount on reg? I'm not a keynote-level speaker so I do expect to pay, but a conf. booked me to teach 3 workshops & didn't provide a discount code. I've asked 2x for more info; no response. Thoughts?
Romancelandia over here remembering that @fatedmates.net ep where they talked about a book where the hero was a guy who Zeus (Zeus? Someone else?) cursed to become a tree and eventually he got chopped down and turned into a door…and yes what I'm saying is the hero of that book was a door.
I am convinced by all the thirst for Erling Haaland that a lot of you just want to fuck a tree.
My heart is full of gratitude for all of Romancelandia and for whoever won my services. (And hey, runner-up, you're gonna be offered a second chance to win and I'd love to work for you too!) @romancingthevote.com

bid feed stream is live! It is just a quiet live running shot of every bid placed, but it is very hypnotic to watch www.youtube.com/live/KdHcTJe...
folks are having so much fun, I'm kind of tempted to just launch the bidfeed stream now and let people watch it all afternoon if they want. LOL
There's a ton of great stuff on this list and you still have a few hours left to bid!
Hello, this is a thread for writers of novels and other things ... to inspire you with a passion for @romancingthevote.com today.
On this, the 250th anniversary of our great nation, I am reminded of one of our founding principles: "You fucking dorks. Go home you turds, you sad pieces of shit." --Thomas Paine (attributed)

My auction donations this year are a tad on the political side. And there’s also a pink heart. The high bids on most of them are still under the retail price, too. See them all using this link www.32auctions.com/organization... @romancingthevote.com
For real. You want me to come up with a gut wound that renders someone infertile, or talk about the pros or cons of a magical/cursed IUD? I've got you covered. Describing a field tracheostomy with a straw, a Leatherman, and some smoldering glances at the hot ex-Navy Seal helping you escape? Done.
Let's say you're writing a book and there's a medical scene. Or maybe a med or treatment your character needs. Or you want to know what a real day is like for your character who works in the hospital ... But you're not a doctor. AND you want to support democracy? www.32auctions.com/organization...
