company smashing earnings and stock tanking after hours is always just good comedy
I don't even know what to say. This is real, this is true, so, like, thank you all, from the bottom of my heart. This took over 25 years to happen so if there's any lesson here it's either "keep at it, who knows" or "many people are divorced"

i have taken an electric vehicle on a california camping road trip and while CA is probably a very friendly environment for this sort of thing we didn’t have overnight charging to save us either. still totally workable but requires extra planning.
I have heard your thoughts about road trips and yeah it is somewhat harder to charge on the road than it is to get gas (not much tho). but home with a home charger is a bigger delta the other direction, so for us it’s been considerably net easier
discovering the nyt rent splitting calculator (w/ underlying algo from francis su) and watching the concept of an “envy-free” split work with a group of 5 very argumentative friends was honestly revolutionary for me
“We have a weird machine which uses language exactly like a human, ‘thinks’ sorta like a human (maybe), and does not reason like a human at all, but which is easily capable of solving problems humans do think and reason about” is The Most Interesting Question Ever for a half-dozen different fields!
this is absolutely my hobbyhorse but nothing I've seen yet has convinced me that we do a good job of evaluating how the sort of solution manifold of LLMs diverges from that of humans and that strikes me as so much more important than pure performance
i was not aware of this particular conspiracy theory

reading this as a computer guy nodding along like “yes, i also have a mean python at work that is trying to kill me and only has so many ways to interact with the world”
We had a really mean python at work and I gave him back to his owner and was like “he was trying to kill me” and his owner said “well, he only has so many ways to interact with the world. All he has is a face” and it Moved Me

I don’t know man, who is “the Democratic Party” if it’s not the voters?Democratic voters choose candidates, not party leaders. And party leaders need to listen to what voters are telling us - and right now they are demanding our party be bolder.
I say this with no ill will or animosity: if you hate the Democratic Party, then please don’t run for our nomination. Don’t use our resources. Don’t rely on our volunteers. Don’t use our infrastructure. Don’t ask Democrats to invest their time, money, and energy in your campaign.
this is a dogshit chart that does not show what the quote says it does
“.. Since the end of the Great Recession in 2009, only the top 0.1% of U.S. households have seen their wealth increase--from about $5.8 trillion to $25.1 trillion in the first quarter of 2026.” - Schwab
Man the Democratic Party *is* the primary voters, what are you talking about. We, the Democratic Party, just decided who will represent us
