The thing that kills me about all this is that after years of building up kind/human/caring community around me, ppl I appreciated because of those traits suddenly drop all semblance of caring about them because.... they have the *perception* of coding a bit better/faster. That's all it took.

let it be known that i’m still an “AI” hater but this is really interesting. one of the first times that ive seen solid evidence that llms can be an improvement over our current tools (since “lines of code written” or “code quality” are just horrible metrics)

OpenSSL is the single most foundational piece of computer security infrastructure. This is not trivial at all.
these people have basically become addicted to gambling. think about it: they pour money into tokens, obsess about that leading to a good result, keep spending until and then well after that happens, never able to stop themselves from thinking about it. AI’s a slot machine.
