Today is the birthday of cartoonist Jackie Ormes (Aug. 1, 1911-Dec. 26, 1985), the first Black woman to create a newspaper comic strip that was read nationally in the US. She created Torchy Brown in Dixie to Harlem, Torchy in Heartbeats & Patty-Jo ‘n’ Ginger. Patty Jo became a toy doll.

hate "right-wingers/conservatives can't make good art" as a talking point. at best it's indicative of a US-centric inability to imagine conservativisms other than modern day MAGA, at worst its a sign of wilful refusal to engage with the history of literally any artform whatsoever

Men really do be seeing women and their kids as extensions of themselves and therefor have the right to their lives/bodies/minds and not like... treat them as self thinking people. When the "father" doesn't like this world, his family has to be earsed with him.
