You would hope this is when we start putting emphasis on the people. Start crediting workers, give awards to individuals instead of studios etc. Studios should mean as little to players as whether a movie was made by Warner Bros or Universal

More random 2am thoughts: Digital distribution will never be able to support the same concept of ownership we have for physical things. It is impossible to "own" a digital copy of something. What does "ownership" mean when I can give infinite copies of my "owned" MP3 music to anyone I want?

Fuck Sony for getting rid of physical media. One of the main reasons I own a PS5 is because I want to maintain a collection. I might as well just buy everything on Steam from now on and ditch consoles all together.

Loving Mina the Hollower, but I do not like how the health vials work at all. Makes failing at platforming unnecessarily punishing and hard to recover from a fight if you're struggling. Also Maxi can fuck right off. The density of the world and art design is fantastic.

Something else I did on Friday was visit the Museum of Modern Art, and honestly it had a really profound impact on me. For most of my life all of the art I've interacted with has been on flat screens or reprinted on paper. Walking through the museum I felt a... presence to the pieces.

The odds are better than normal that whoever's on the ballot as the Democrat in your district this November will win. So it's important this primary season to make sure that whoever that person is, they're committed to an aggressive agenda of reform and accountability once they take office.

Dems are polling crazy high based on the flaming catastrophe that is Republican fascist rule, so primarying as many of the bad weak complicit Democrats in favor of good determined angry ones has rarely if ever been more crucial

Kids should be learning that AI output isn’t trustworthy, where it really comes from, and how it’s disrupting our ability to tell what’s real. They shouldn’t be learning that AI will make them more efficient or do their work for them because it can’t. That would be propaganda, not education

"Facism is the act of self-deception in service of making your own life more painful, solely for the payoff of making life more painful for people you dislike."

User dratsab huffman asks the question:

To amuse myself i researched revacholian nationalism as well as measure head's race theories etc etc and focused my character on "traditionalism".

Anyway, ive noticed that if i ever click dialogue options that are in tune with my character's political compass, i lose morale. Whats the point of having this as a mechanic if its going to be so detrimental and feels like the character doesnt believe he actually is this or something... is there anyway to overcome that kind of morale loss?Recalcitrant Jester replies:
Being a fascist is a deeply demoralizing experience. You have to not only radically alter your worldview to make reality fit into your unhinged schema, but that worldview is predicated on the notion that the weakest, most unworthy degenerate worms on the planet are somehow overpowering and humiliating you on a moment-by-moment basis.

In mechanical terms too, the lowered morale also reduces your volition score—the more you indulge in your delusions, the less you are able to exercise self-control and self-awareness.

The point of fascism being mechanically detrimental—the ludonarrative theme—is that fascism is an unequivocally self-destructive ideology, the practice of which only serves to nurture that self-destructive urge and turn it outward. It's not like Dark Side points in KotOR where you can access cool new abilities and get to enjoy being such a nasty lil rascal; you are not supposed to enjoy being a fascist in Disco Elysium. Fascism is the act of self-deception in service of making your own life more painful, solely for the payoff of making life more painful for people you dislike.

Saw the Mario Galaxy movie over the weekend. It was a lot of fun, but I think I enjoyed the first one more. The pacing was off and felt even more tenuously strung together than the first. Like it was made backwards, all the cameos and easter eggs decided first and the plot jerryrigged to fit.
