It’s exhausting that if Trump wanted to attempt another coup, he’d be doing nothing different for Independence Day. He’d just need one of the flyover planes to hit the Capitol, have that and the firework disorientation to have a few dozen Congressional Democrats rounded up by his favorite…

A neighbor kindly tried to set me up with a local startup. The most interesting position listed this as a hiring goal: "You believe that founders and technologists disproportionately move the world forward, and that Elon is a profoundly valuable asset to humanity." 👀

Trump is occasionally responsive to public opinion (not the worst thing!); but he also insists on moving from one fuck-up to the next without thought. He's a creature with a nervous system, but no brain.

All Trump had to do when he started his term was JDFU. Like, he literally just could have played golf for 10 hours a day, 7 days a week, and literally done NOTHING and we would be in a 1000% better situation in every conceivable dimension

A thing I finally just put my finger on: part of what annoys me so much about AI hype is that it seems like all its proponents want to be pundits. It feels as if they think that the louder they tout the supposed virtues of AI, the more they'll be recognized as geniuses and gain subscribers/followers

As he planned to disrupt the transfer of power by any means necessary, Nestler says, Rhodes used the Insurrection Act as legal cover. As proof of that claim, Nestler plays a clip of Rhodes instructing Oath Keepers to refer to the Insurrection Act because it could provide "legal cover." According to Nestler, Rhodes thought the act "would give him and his followers plausible deniability." But as that date drew near and a peaceful transition became "more and more likely," Rhodes and his co-conspirators grew "more and more desperate." According to Nestler, Rhodes spent tens of thousands of dollars on firearms and made preparations to store them at a Comfort Inn in Virginia, a state with laws that are more gun-friendly than Washington, D.C. I’m posting so much about the 1.776B Trump slush fund because it’s a disgusting leap towards dictatorship, and it makes a mockery of the oaths people at the DOJ swore. It’s illegal six ways from Sunday, no matter who he’s paying, and offends me in basically every way possible.
