Ashkenazi Judeo-Arabic celebration announcement: Brismillah!
No need, I'm forgetting the obvious: Bismillah!
"my favorite anime is FLCL season 1" is usually a very suspicious statement, but in my case it's because i watched it at age 14 and related deeply to the main character
"We love our troops don't we folks support the troops our brave men and women in uniform stand for them stand for the troops their sacrifice inspires us" it was all bullshit this entire time. A joke to all of them
TRUMP IMMIGRATION CRACKDOWN DETAINS 50+ FAMILY MEMBERS OF U.S. TROOPS: AP
i'm not going to hand it to jd vance i'm not going to hand it to jd vance i'm not going to hand it to jd vance i'm not going to hand it to jd vance i'm not going to hand it to jd vance
for reasons that only make sense if you're insane, a TPUSA kid complaining about burrito costs on xitter has the GOP's biggest divas going for each other's throats.
In other Michigan news, the state looks set to elect it's first transgender lawmaker. Joanna Whaley won her Democratic primary and will compete in November for a state house seat, beating a primary opponent who tried and failed to disqualify her for not running under her deadname
Haley Stevens was out with a gracious concession and a commitment to support Abdul El-Sayed within about one hour of the AP call in her race. If she can buck up first thing in the morning, everyone else can. That’s actual political leadership.
I meant to post this last night but if you’re mad about any of the primary results you got 24 hours to bleed, try not to say anything you’ll regret in 48, and then it’s Blue No Matter Who.
Abdul will win the general by 15 if he switches back to being called by his full name, Abdulrahman
It’s true, in the past I would have had multiple editors in my inbox asking me to write about the Cunningham stuff. I haven’t gotten a single assignment request. Trans writers used to be tokenized to write about these things but now that the topic is “mainstream,” those bylines go elsewhere.
I need people to understand that for the last half decade that there’s been an ecosystem of trans folks in sports media who have worked unpaid to serve as experts for context, sources and educators on what it’s like for trans athletes, in hopes of potential bylines and contacts. That’s dried up.
They don't want victory. They don't want power. They want to endlessly shoot up synagogues.
"Abd el-Yahud" and "judeophile" my neighbours are calling him, so that's nice
You may not understand the significance of the second part if you aren't familiar with the connotation of "judeophile" on the edgy left of Twitter

El-Sayed: "My commitment to Jewish safety is the same commitment that I have to the safety of my own daughters. Because if there is one question of political philosophy that ought to animate us all, it's what would we do if we treated all our kids like they were all of our kids?"
can you guys retire "the right wing / chuds don't know what to do with trans men and forget they exist and will be So Confused by them!!!!" already. they are fully aware trans men exist and the thing they do to trans men is violently abuse and murder them
imagine the chaos olimar could unleash on the world if he had minions instead of pikmin
This is the correct answer. The principle that every person living between the Mediterranean and the Jordan should have equal rights and self-determination is far more important than the number of states.
El-Sayed: "I believe in equal rights to peace, dignity, and self-determination, for Palestinians and Jewish Israelis alike... If that’s 2 states, I’m for it. If it’s 1 state, I’m for that. If it’s this 'land for all' model, ... or whatever they decide." www.newyorker.com/news/the-new...
I saw a tweet that quoted it & said if this truck said “Michigan’s future” for her & “Egypt’s future” for him it’d rightly be called out for being racist trash & that should still apply here. Gotta agree with that one.
Bay Area friends: would you consider opening your home to these two cuddly cats? A friend found them behind a gas station. Their sibling, a black cat, got adopted, but it appears no one likes orange cats. They are being kept in a bathroom for the time being and need a home.
A friend of mine found these three kittens behind a Bay Area gas station. They are tame, vaccinated, and incredibly affectionate. Unfortunately, she's unable to keep them and I'm trying to find them a home. They are at risk of going to a shelter. Bay Area people, are you open to adopting?
NEW: Eleventh Circuit, on an 8-5 vote, holds that Florida's anti-drag law is likely constitutional. A majority of the court, however, disagreed with Just Brasher that the court should rule on whether the statewide injunction entered in the case was an improper "universal injunction." Law Dork:

honestly can't stress enough, as a former family law attorney, how depressingly common Max Miller's behavior and words are, right down to the petty fixation on custody procedure and rules when faced with allegations of shocking violence.
Rep. Max Miller: "When I was reported for child abuse of my daughter for a broken collarbone, my daughter was in my ex-wife's care 9 out of the last 11 days and she took her to the emergency room, which is a contempt violation from our shared parenting plan."
it's pretty difficult to study the capital / imperialism intersection without this in mind, for what it's worth
there is a strain of lefty discourse where you can’t come to any unflattering conclusions about the populace—those must be explained away by how they are being acted upon by capital—but I think you’ll understand things better if you understand capital can also exploit weaknesses it didn’t create
this response is only coherent if you understand that Miller, and the rest of his party, believes that fathers have not only the right but the obligation to treat their daughters like their personal property and that they have no right to privacy independent of what their father believes is best
TAPPER: One of the files you released was an image of your daughter naked. It was available for a day before it was removed. Your ex-wife's attorney says it could quality as CSAM. That's shockingly reckless behavior MAX MILLER: I wouldn't say it's shockingly reckless. There was no genitalia exposed
the conflict is basically sectarian in the same way that like northern ireland is but lets be real you are not going to understand the UDF or the PIRA by reading theology
I Fought a sectarian war. Sectarianism = Catholic vs Prod, Shia vs Sunni. Critiquing a white English grifter for a political IDF shirt isn't religious hate—it's political. Attacking Zionism a religious theology isn't attacking Jews. Nothing sectarian in this post about a racist & his Genocide Army
Exactly. This is where theory is so helpful as a lens. (This is adding to not contradicting OP) So if you have a critical feminist lens, you understand that these are both the same project of marginalizing women and maintaining a binary that (white, cis, straight, wealthy) men are in charge of.
12 year old girls get genital inspections "for their safety" while wife beaters get endorsed for re-election. This whole protecting women and girls thing is a bit confusing.
for those saying its "facts" No, Zionism is not a religious theology. its a secular, political nationalist ideology. most of the earliest opposition to it was religious.
