fundamentally i think that this impulse is reactionary and paranoid, even if ostensibly left wing, and paranoid reactionaries have certain predictable traits
any entertainment which is in any way, possibly or imaginably, associated with people or movements i do not like is inherently morally corrupt. therefore,
people are pointing out that this is obviously antisemitic, and it is, but one notes that this is sort of the natural endpoint of building your entire political identity around cultural criticism.

It's even notable how much like - a basic middle-class experience 30 years ago was getting hand-me-downs from older siblings or cousins.
I think in general a lot the debates we think are about POVERTY are in fact about INDUSTRIAL CONSUMERISM, which is growing dramatically in a way poverty simply isn’t. But people have a more familiar vocabulary and ideological grounding for the former so they try to drag it into the discussion.

I'm not saying people aren't allowed to have opinions about the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict. I just think opinions about the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict should be related to the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict. For example, you can make the sale of F-15s to the IDF about it but not fandom disputes.
