EA's annual Ebitda is around $1.5 billion, which should be enough to service the interest payments. But the publisher has told debt investors that it will cut $700 million in annual costs including $170 million in "organizational efficiencies," per Bloomberg. In other words: mass layoffs
EA officially goes private tonight, meaning: - EA will no longer trade on the NASDAQ for the first time in 36 years - All stockholders of EA (including many employees) will receive $210/share - EA will take on $18 billion (!) in debt, putting it on the hook to pay ~$1.8 billion/year in interest
It’s hard to explain but tv was better when you couldn’t watch the show you wanted whenever you wanted to watch it and most of the shows were worse and the TVs were worse and the entire experience was worse, that’s when it was better
Twitch and Amazon are apparently planning to use streams to train Generative AI. Multiple sources tell me it will be announced in the coming months, despite some internal friction against it. Creators may be able to opt out of some training data.
Harrison Ford, the actor behind loveable scoundrels Han Solo and Indiana Jones, started his career as an on-set carpenter. That makes him a roguelike deckbuilder.
if you don't have children i hope you're doing nothing at all rn and absolutely relishing it. no guilt at all just enjoyment. i did not relish my nothing time enough and now well it's gone
Im not quite to the end, but I feel similarly! Splatoon Raiders is a lot deeper than its pre-launch marketing would have you believe, and the Nier Automata-esque weapon mod system is a terrific fit here
It took 10 hours or so for Splatoon Raiders to reveal itself to me. The lead-up to the final boss & endgame have given me enough tools to be able to express myself and rigorous enough obstacles to feel inspired to pursue creative builds. It's gone from a game I like to one that I solidly love
The chintzy-looking M64 clone console of the N64 by a company named ModRetro has been released, I think, I don't pay attention that closely to shit. But as the great @frankcifaldi.bsky.social posted before, it is our civic duty to push back against this company and shun ANYONE who doesn't.
This is your informal (not formal) notice that Act Two (the second half) of Ambrosia Sky (an atmospheric sci-fi cleaning game about saying goodbye) comes out next week (August 6th). It's a free (🚫💰) update for all existing owners, which could be you (the person reading this)! ➡ ambrosiasky.com

One of the ways which has helped me most to figure out whether something is genAI (rather than examining the image) is asking: "Could this person make this themselves?" or "Would this person hire someone to make this?" I've found this most useful in places like Linkedin 🙃

Q: You're talking about blowing up civilian power plants and bridges. Much of the civilized world would consider that a war crime. Do you? TRUMP: I won't respond to that question. Who are you with? Q: The New York Times TRUMP: I figured. The failing New York Times.
Astonishing. RFK Jr. adds 8 members to a 6 member FDA advisory panel. 6 of them were sellers of peptides, and the 7th a compounding pharmacist. In an 8-6 vote with all 8 votes coming from these new panel members, the panel approved 4 peptides against the objections of FDA scientists.

Honestly I would vote for and donate to any Democrat who is willing to draft legislation saying it is legally required to beat his ass if you ever see him in public. Like if you see him and don’t do a heat move on him you get fined
This dude was up there doing Nazi salutes and ripping apart the social safety net. He destroyed USAID and has killed hundreds of thousands of people, many of them children. Do not let him rehabilitate his image.
