This is my favorite art book of 2026 so far
The Art of Cartoon Saloon: 25 Years is, like the animation studio itself, something special.

Pixar receives a $26.2 Million Tax credit to keep film jobs in CA, and immediately lays off 10% of its work force, after making over a billion from Toy Story 5, the highest-grossing film of 2026.
Pixar's Layoffs Came Days After Receiving a $26 Million Tax Credit. So I Wrote California Officials.
State tax incentives should create and retain jobs for Californians, not subsidize corporate layoffs.

glen hansard, kavinsky. linda perhacs is missing. wtf is happening to musicians this week
I should be able to put on an Out Of Office auto reply on Bluesky with that said, I’m going to the beach
strange to wake up to replies / QTs saying that I have an ulterior motive in taking what I thought was honestly pretty mild offence at something I thought was racist like it is not simply something I live with (I am black! I thought it was obvious from my Goku avi)
Just a really bizarre flattening of these characters and performances, it’s not only inaccurate but feels like a strange projection
It’s like crazy seeing people gas up the Emily Wilson review, it’s very racist lol
been really struggling to get out of the financial hole of this last year. cancelling my trip isn't enough. i hate doing this, it is a one-time ask, but if any help is greatly appreciated. i will also post a handful of things to sell by the end of summer. www.venmo.com/u/CatherineS...

weird and kinda racist undertones to Wilson's comments about the black characters in Nolan's The Odyssey imo I don't think any of the performances measure up to "black best friend", that is a projection

Good. Ban the pervert glasses from every event for decent people.
“The vast majority of the talent and agents at our events felt that these were a violation of their privacy and were damaging and spoiling the interactions at the tables. Several expressed concerns that they might not continue to attend in-person events if they were being recorded in secret.”
watched John Woo's Romance of the Three Kingdoms adaptation, RED CLIFF (1 & 2), at BFI tonight – really fun epic, felt like a good chaser to seeing The Odyssey. Also realised that years ago I had actually encountered a clip from it in the wild in the form of this glorious idiocy:
"Also according to ChatGPT" is some shameful horseshit to have on any design document, especially one you're confident enough to project in front of a live audience
I dont know if this is brazen or it has just become so normalized that people who use the stuff don't see it anymore but the text that opens the final paragraph on the right on the big slides for your sdcc presentation is WILD

Honestly, @kambole.bsky.social says it best: Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender sure is nice to look at. re:frame #97, out now:
Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender sure is nice to look at
Perhaps it would land with more impact with an actual theatrical release, though.

also been promoting that racist Armie Hammer movie this guy sucks!
After seeing him all buddy buddy with Chris Gore at CinemaCon, this tracks. A shame for everyone else on the panel who were clearly surprised and not comfortable.
Paramount’s apathetic treatment of this series aside, looking forward to this - new designs very welcome, also nice to see the Avatar folks to step further away from Aang considering the original cast’s proximity to Korra (and that there’s a film sequel tomorrow, AND the terrible live action remake)

You would never get the "£50 doesn't even buy a meal quote if the topic was the benefit system, then you would have a guy going "sack of potatoes and a carrot, and you can feed a child for a month at just 3.2 pence per meal"

When @thesaintoftous.bsky.social pitched this, I said "no pressure but I'd love to see that." And I do love to see it. re:frame #96, out now:

Pixar has just been utterly gutted of almost all its veterans. My partner Jamie has made it, but many of our friends have not. It is incredibly devastating.
Despite already grossing more than $1.2 billion at the box office this year, Pixar is among the divisions hit hardest by Disney’s latest layoffs. Sources tell us future films will be made by smaller teams under a new “long and lean” production model. www.cartoonbrew.com/artist-right...
