I LOVE the Coen adaptation of MacBeth (previous RT)
this is one of my favorite Shakespeare films ever not just because every frame is so breathtaking you would hang it on your wall as modern art, and not just because Denzel and Frances are all-timers, but because "wait is ROSS the big bad??" is an incredible question to be left asking yourself
What, mine eyes doth see? The Tragedy of Macbeth with Denzel Washington, Francis McDormand & Brendan Gleeson, directed by Joel Coen as if by Welles possessed, one foot in film, one theater. Silhouettes galore. No mannered elocution. Treachery in blood. Shakespeare for the people.
I was trying to tell a joke about Kaleb at dinner just now and halfway through my sentence my throat caught and I started sobbing in the restaurant. I don’t mind crying in front of people or crying in public but I have been able to keep it together for a while now so when it happens it

Lord Byron, please, the hos. You mustn’t scare them so.
Received two beautiful rosaries tonight I’m so spoiled

Really awful cover I just imagined: Blink-182 doing Cyndi Lauper Time After Time
Eva Marie Saint’s performance in North by Northwest is immaculate.
Escaped poetry class without having to read my really awful in-class prompt response.
When I think about the first people who walked through this forest, more than 15,000 years ago, I wonder if they felt peace? Or if the sound of falling trees became monsters for myths.

End the death penalty. End it now. There is no reason for it, never.
I’m so tired of the bad people winning. We have to stop them.
The AI “biography” of Kaleb some ghoul listed on Amazon less than a week after he died was very painful and disturbing. Someone said he’d think it was funny. No, he wouldn’t, and also, he’s dead, *I* don’t think it’s funny and I want to inflict physical pain on the person who did it.
Of all the awful uses of generative ai this is one of the most quietly disgusting. These aren't tributes. They are snuff sympathy cards done by dopamine addicts groping themselves over the clout they can squeeze out of a tragedy. I'm furious when I see these. Can't imagine how their peers feel.
I still miss Kaleb popping up out of seemingly nowhere to envelope me for a while in a time and place I wasn’t expecting.
One year ago this week we lost the great writer Kaleb Horton. I am still very sorry that I won't ever get to read anything new by him ever again. Today his partner @katehascats.bsky.social joins us to write about her experience of loss and grief.
“I desperately want to hear his voice, to receive a sign, to know I’m going the right way. There is no one here with me.”

Grief is such an wild, unwieldy animal. This piece really gets it, right down into the bones.
