Do you sanitise your CV for the postdoc job market? My last two jobs came from an academic CV that had no trace of the decade I spent waiting tables, scrubbing pots, or babysitting. This never sat right with me. How do you work this in without cluttering the CV?

Welcome to Belfast! 🎉Tonight marks the informal start of #EPSS2026! Before the conference officially opens, there are two great ways to ease in.
Question for #AcademicSky: You reject on methodological grounds — convenience sampling and borderline results that would shift w/ a redesign. Editor overrules, issues R&R, invites you back. The methods likely remain the same. When is it acceptable to decline a re-review?
Please do come to this, if relevant and of interest. I'll be there and looking forward to it.

A much-discussed “return to #coal” by some countries in the wake of the Iran war & #fossilfuel is likely to be far more limited than thought, amounting to a global rise of no more than 1.8% in coal power output this year and likely even much lower www.carbonbrief.org/world-will-n...

Just a reminder, I’m running to make @epssnet.bsky.social more representative of its broader membership! 👊 Please vote! 🗳️
I'm the only PhD student on the @epssnet.bsky.social Council Elections ballot, alongside 12 professors. Academic institutions drift toward those with permanent posts — it's structural, not personal. A 'youth seat' fixes that early. Vote to make EPSS reflect its full membership at EPSSnet.org 🗳️

New paper in Nature. The more a government controls its domestic media, the more it dominates AI training data, the more pro-regime outputs we get from AI. By scraping the open web, LLMs are unwittingly laundering state-coordinated narratives into seemingly objective answers.
Just resharing! Ipsos UK have clarified that their data was used for an independently-produced seat projection for STV rather than an in-house forecast. And we're happy to set the record straight.
Big news! 🗞️ By total seat projection accuracy, the STAEM team MATCHED or BEAT every major pollster for Holyrood '26 - with a team of just 14 undergraduate students and 2 PhD researchers. @kieranomeara.bsky.social @nstb.bsky.social @uniofstandrews.bsky.social @cglgsta.bsky.social
