I feel like some people just really believe in their guts that the reason we are facing anti-trans backlash is because we used the wrong words in the 2010s and not, you know, the concerted efforts of people who hate us, plus the well-documented history of backlash as a political phenomenon.

After enjoying fifty years of devoted fandom and support I find it downright shameful for a pro sports team to send their lobbyist to city hall and just flatly say into the mic that the city sucks, in an effort to shake ‘em down for hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars with zero accountability

I’m really tired of people who hate Portland having so much power and influence on Portland. (This could apply to “US cities” in general I guess but I live in Portland;)

On Friday it’ll be what would have been the 20th birthday of my child, Jet. There is only one book that she loved that I haven’t read (we often parallel read in order to discuss): the Orange Eats Creeps. so I think I’ll read it then. Even though I hate the idea of no more books she loved to be read.

This really is such a great album.

I’ve been to a few more games, and watched the rest on TV… getting back into the wnba (I followed it as a teen and paid attention on and off since then, but i prefer to have a local team to support) has been such a helpful distraction these last few months.

Happy Pride Month! This book is very proud! We got transes, we got lesbians, we got bis. There are only three or four passages expressing contempt at queer people or culture. Pride!

Watched the trailer for the new Jane Schoenbrun movie and then foolishly watched the trailer for I Saw the TV Glow. Seeing the new trailer already had me a bit weepy thinking how Jet will never see the film, and then watching the tv glow trailer got me crying about the talk we had after watching it.

Being the contact person for a riot grrrl chapter when I was 16. Got a phone call from an out of towner wanting to hang out. 2 years later he asked me to start a family (we are both trans). From that call, all the other big changes (moving west, having kids, the recent death of one of my kids etc).

I actually met someone in Portland who is a bit ahead of me on this loss journey but shares some of these other experiences (being queer and losing a queer young adult child). Still open to knowing more or, while I hope this never happens to anyone again, being there for someone if it does.

Last week my younger child passed away. I’m hoping to find trans or queer people in PDX or maybe NYC or CT (I go there sometimes to visit my other child and his baby daughter) who have lost a teen or young adult child who might be interested in connecting. 1/2

I am subscribed so I get all the LittlePuss books as they come out (an option you can read about further in this thread), but if I wasn’t subscribed, I would, as always, pre-order and then when it gets closer forget that I pre-ordered and accidentally pre-order a second copy.

this is reminding me of the last time I went out with a guy&he asked me what the statue of Joan of Arc in Portland was. I said “a statue of Joan of Arc.” he told me it wasn’t because that wouldn’t make sense. If I ever date again, potential dates will need more game than incorrect corrections.

I probably saw this six times when I was 16. My friend McKay from Chicago Lesbian Avengers introduced me to it. One time I watched it and my Italian grandma was watching part of it and didn’t quite get what it was and after a while said “I had no idea Billie Jean King had such a life” 😍
