In a moment of unspeakable hubris, I purchased a toothbrush for cats.

The Tom Hiddleston Pompeii doc IS both very goofy and also quite in awe of the various methods academics use to understand history, in a very sweet way.
We were watching that silly new Tom Hiddleston reenactment of the disaster of Pompeii and he was like ‘we have amazing new tech that allows us to track people through this disaster’ and I was oh no he’s going to say it’s an AI brain or something and then he said…. ‘Its a spreadsheet’ and I CHEERED
Not really a cat so much as an alien species impersonating a feline. He’s weird. Everything he does is just 4% wrong. When he cuddles me he lays across my throat, he is obsessed with what happens in the kitchen drain, he hates treats, he has a deep fascination with pompoms. A freak.
What's your personal great white whale of an unsolved mystery? The thing you desperately hope is solved before you die because you need to know the answer? Mine is the Isabella Stewart Gardener Museum heist. Where the hell are the Rembrandts. I need the full story
Nice relaxing Saturday morning, sipping my cofffee and obsessing about how I accidentally used the word “tenor” instead of “tenure” in an email 24 hours ago
I’m eating a pizza with crust made out of cottage cheese, which is apparently a thing that’s possible. Every year I spend on this earth, I learn dazzling new things.
We aren’t going to have any more epic movies if you guys can’t be normal about it.
July is almost over and so is my fundraiser for American Cancer Society. I’ve swum five miles and, as promised, shared SO MANY pics of Robert California. Please give if you can.

Another day, another glamour shot of my house panther.

Several aspects of my life are in shambles, but this tree I thought was dead is flowering, so
Mrs. Davis was so so so good, and nobody watched it, but you should! It dared something impossibly huge, and somehow it stuck the landing. It was one of those shows that makes you appreciate how TV functions uniquely as an artistic medium.
I just finished Mrs. Davis and holy balls I cannot recommend highly enough, I need someone who knows more about TV production than I do to explain to me why this bonkers-ass show is so mf emotionally impactful while also being clear satire but being all in on it, totally irony-free
Someone must have broken into my apartment and knocked this lamp over, because Robert California would never.
I don’t want to be overly dramatic, but I would rather see the Cinerama Dome at the bottom of the sea, silenced and desolate, than allow its patrons to order food to their seats on a phone.
He was shocked when I told him Matt Damon is usually in several movies each year and he’s been missing them. My dad has been living in a world where Matt Damon’s career is floundering and he is now making a big comeback!
I was able to convince my Dad, who lives in Massachusetts, to take my mom to see The Odyssey. He agreed, despite not having been to a movie in the better part of a decade, because he “loves everything Matt Damon does.”

I worried so much about the lettuce and now I have a different, unconnected stomach flu. Is this just a bug, or am I the first in the next wave of food safety victims? Exciting times!
Anyway if you've already seen THE ODYSSEY and you want another historical epic about the complexities of faith and the darkening of an age might I recommend Sir Ridley in all his Director's Cut glory?
Almost forgot to post your daily Robert California. My apologies.
My mental health is completely dependent on throwing his pompoms in the air for him.
Shoulder Cat can strike right out of the shower. Shoulder Cat DGAF.
Shoulder Cat can strike at any time. One is never safe from a Shoulder Cat attack.
I ate lettuce today. I took the outside leaves off and washed it thoroughly and hoped for the best. Which is bold for someone who thinks only bad things happen to them.
Stopping for gas on the way home from work instead of telling myself I’ll leave early in the morning. Don’t tell me I can’t do hard things.
“What are you doing? Meal prep? We could be playing fetch instead, you know”
They should invent a type of being alive that isn’t scary and hard, imo.
I don’t follow football, but for someone whose special interest is Viking and Norman history, this has been a fun time on the Internet.
My dad cannot and will not remember that my cat’s name is Robert. Even if I mention him twice in the same conversation, he asks each time, “Who the hell is Robert?” He constantly thinks I’m hard launching a new relationship.
there’s no way this is the same brain i used to remember phone numbers with
No one doing more consistently unhinged work than the folks who design hotel showers. Containing the water to the shower itself? The lowest priority, have a half wall. The tile? The slipperiest imaginable, and just no regard for those who might have to shave their legs. Bunch of maniacs.
