Taco Tuesday should be a paid holiday

[smiling beatifically] coca-cola exists bc ppl in georgia wanted to get on the cocaine wine bandwagon, but wine was illegal in the state at the time (cocaine very much was not). that's why there's brown food coloring in it, to make it sort of look like red wine

Reading a novel set in the late 1800s and a character casually mentions "French cocaine wine" which 1. I thought they made up and 2. Finding out it was real sent me down a rabbit hole that lasted half the day. The POPE endorsing French cocaine wine literally *mind blown*

The other day my sister and I were taking a walk along the Portland Waterfront, and there were all these geese. My sister pointed out, "hey look there's a gosling," to which I responded, "um he has a NAME—it's Ryan?!" And that's why my sister deserves a medal for putting up with me and my nonsense.

A half dozen geese are gathered along the Waterfront pathway and lawn. A small gosling is at the back left.

[James Stewart as Odysseus] now listen here, Agamemnon, I'm going home, y'see. You keep your fancy armour, I'm getting off this crummy ol' beach. [Spotting the Cyclops] now here's a curious fella, he's only got one peeper

for a junk drawer to legally qualify as a real junk drawer, what is the ONE absolute mandatory item it must include? A tiny clear baggie with one (1) spare fuse in it which goes to something so important that you can't remember what

for a junk drawer to legally qualify as a real junk drawer, what is the ONE absolute mandatory item it must include? Shrödinger's batteries. The ones you're not sure are dead or not.

Really? Because I keep seeing them in charge of everything from car dealerships to the White House, and they seem to doing just fine despite their obvious handicaps.

The nursing shortage claims never account for the fact that the only shortage is people willing to work in horrid conditions. Where I live there are 100s of new grads unable to find employment because strong unions and ratios have decreased turnover. They’re having to move out of state to find jobs.

hospitals want us to do more with less without a concern for patient safety or our own wellbeing while refusing to pay us adequate wages

The diarrhea lettuce company, Taylor Farms, uses slave labor contracted from the Arizona Dept. of Corrections. The backbreaking labor is often performed by imprisoned Mexican nationals who would be otherwise ineligble to work in the US. They are paid $1.50 an hour.

The Diarrhea Lettuce Company Has Been Linked to Forced Labor

The lettuce-producing Taylor Farms was linked to the widespread use of prison labor before its involvement in a cyclospora outbreak.

enjoying imagining the discussion among editors in which they determined if this ought to be pluralized as Spider-Mans, Spider-Men, or Spiders-Man

The former World Liberty adviser said the scenario reminded him of the meme in which two Spider-Mans point at each other.

If you put together the season posters for Reacher they tell the story of a large man who can't remember where he put his keys.

It has been a long day. Not too many days at work get the better of me, but today i just had to take a couple minutes alone in the office to try not to cry out of sheer frustration. I didn't quite succeed. So now I am finally home and i am having nachos about it.

A plate of vegan nachos with fake cheese, guacamole, chipotle-seasoned tvp, salsa, tomatoes, and refried black beans on top of my tortilla chips.

EXCELLENT summer squash and spinach vegan Rally pizza over at Victor 23 Brewing. And it is such a pretty pizza to boot! And the beer is wonderful, as usual. It's brewed literally blocks from my place. It's super local!

A wood fired pizza with onions, sliced yelloe summer squash, and spinach on a platter covered with red and white checkered parchment paper sits on the table. To the left are 2 pints of very good locally brewed beer.
