ICE’s airport arrests of people seemingly waiting in government immigration backlogs caught up a Fulbright scholar and public health researcher working at Johns Hopkins in their public health department. Not exactly the “worst of the worst”! Yet they threw her in detention anyway.

I started watching these flights a couple of weeks ago-- this is DOUBLE the average amount of deportation flights, plus it is almost always Mexico and other Central American countries only.
Gillian Brockell@gillianbrockell.com · 6d agoThursday, July 30. Just a horrible day in ICE flights. At least 79 flights on 29 planes. At least 21 removal flights, of which at least 4 were likely third-country removals. ICE flights hit every continent except Australia and Antarctica in one day.
I work in tech and there's lots of pressure to AI everything, but having all that wildfire smoke in VT for a week solidified my stance against AI for anything. I can't in good conscience use any AI tool when it means poisoning myself and others

They are hurriedly moving these people who we’ve been talking to at the concentration camp in Tacoma. The political prisoners who have been locked up in this camp have been participating in hunger strikes and other organizing with community support.
