What really upsets me with this is the dumbing down of comprehension on news sites (the BBC being one of the worst offenders). Unnecessary repetition of, for example, names to explain who is speaking when it is blindingly obvious. I appreciate I have a very high reading comprehension 1/3

Drained in 1820 because you could smell the city 15 miles away (Auld Reekie) that historic burn still flows completely hidden underground today! #scotland #history

The narrow, high-banked path that carves a channel through the boneyard of St. Urian’s at Wormford is notoriously ghost-soaked. We would expect nothing less for a old wraith way, yet it has a pleasing diversity of phantoms: giant spiders made of smoke; flaming wheels; floating pillars of blue light.

Still no rain, and according to my weather app none for the next ten days, but we do have a wonderful breeze. Bumped into an old pal from church in the way home and we just stood for a few minutes enjoying being blown about.

#MusicHistory On this day, 1985, The Pogues released their brilliant 2nd album Rum Sodomy & the Lash. The cover art is a re-working by Peter Mennim of The Raft of the Medusa by the French Romantic painter Théodore Géricault, completed in 1819. The original painting hangs in The Louvre in Paris.
