I was thinking about the essay I shared yesterday, and how it resonated with a few people--actually people in very different fields. And I was thinking that academia is just where I am located, but of...

Among the many lost opportunities I observed — repeatedly — across decades in the academy: how infrequently universities recognize or tap into resident experts and local knowledge. Faculty expertise is valued mostly as a funding magnet or PR opportunity; it's rarely seen as locally applicable.
what is wild to me is how few universities with schools of education are turning to us for our expertise in pedagogy. most seem to just be hopping on the AI train and largely ignoring the downstream consequences for our teaching

Date both of them. Add a Haitian man and have your therapist on speed dial

Romantic love is different based on your life stage. We all know how emo & tragic teenagers are about love. People in their 20s are pretty emo & tragic about it too. They're filled with all these raging emotions of youth. With age, comes stability in the way you deal with romance.

Not my mission, because I don’t think about whiteness, but I think there’s something useful to be written about what white people will *endure* to uphold white supremacy. Trumpism is an excellent moment to see this enduring. People who voted for him and are suffering would *still* vote for him.
I had planted ferns somewhere and they did VERY well. Too well. Taking over everything. Now removing them. Not sure if I’ll leave a few; if I do, I’ll need to sink them into a pot so they don’t take over again. It was a good experiment.

Imagine a marketplace that has ideas but no potatoes? What use is it? I reject it.
My beginning position is that everyone is androgynous (to me), lol KISS ME IN THE MARKETPLACE OF IDEAS

Living a man's life in the 1950's just fucking sucked.

This old tale inspired aspects of my novel The New Moon's Arms. In the versions I found, the children at first discarded the bean pods and attempted to eat the stems. They appeared surprised to find them inedible. boingboing.net/2026/05/29/t...

I'm curious how much Kenya received to support Ayiti's occupation by the US. Seems an important number to keep on the ledger/in context.
The U.S. will give Kenya $13.5 million. To ebola us. We are so fucking cheap. Our lives are so incredibly disposable. And I will keep using ebola as a verb.
"France ran the third-largest slave trade, shipping ~1.4 million Africans to plantations whose sugar wealth built... Nantes and Bordeaux. Eliminating [the Code Noir] is the easy part [but] ~1.9 million people [still live in its former slave colonies which are] among its poorest territories."
That the Code Noir was officially repealed THIS YEAR should give us all a lot of pause. A lot of pause. www.france24.com/en/france/20... Do not say shit about slavery being in the past when its codes were STILL not yet legally repealed.
