Educator. Advocate. Renter. Running for State House in WA’s 37th LD for well invested, affordable, and safe communities from the CD to Skyway!
Housing is always on my mind. We need rent stabilization, we need renter protections, we need a new voice in Olympia that understands the life of a renter in this region. Someone that will actually stand up for renters and advocate for more social housing, density, and tenant protections.
Well done 👏🏾
Streamlining how we build housing is an important way to make sure families aren’t pushed out of Seattle, that people can grow their lives here, and that the workers who keep this city running can afford to live in it. @cmeddielin.bsky.social
This may be the biggest news of Seattle's election night. An upstart progressive is well positioned to unseat the establishment rep, Tomiko Santos, in WA's 37th district, which covers south Seattle.

Jaelynn Scott is exactly who the 37th needs. We’ve got a fighter for the working class that can deliver results for our communities.

Op-Ed: Progressives Are Winning the Future of Washington's Legislature
While Seattle Times columnist Danny Westneat claims progressives “fizzled” in Washington state because a few primary challengers trailed, Kamau Chege argues that analysis is flawed, ignoring other wins that show the left is wresting control of the party.

Thank you to everyone that got us here. Now we get back to work.
Kelabe Tewolde has officially overtaken incumbent Rep. Sharon Tomiko Santos in the 37th LD after the latest ballot drop from King County Elections. Tewolde currently has 51% to Santos's 48% with ballots still being counted.
Day 3 Update: @kelabe.bsky.social won 54.82% of all the new votes counted today! He is at 49.13% total, but I'm sure he'll top 50% after tomorrow's drop. An amazing victory over a multi-decade incumbent in the primary - all the more reason to get behind him in the general!
Day 2 Update: @kelabe.bsky.social received 51.61% of the votes counted today! Grand total puts him at 46.59% but this could easily top 50% by the end of the week.
After months of extensive engagement with labor and industry partners, we are proud to announce legislation that will stop price gouging, promote equal discounts for all, and make groceries more affordable. Read the full press release here: wilson.seattle.gov/2026/08/06/c...
INBOX: Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson and City Councilmember Alexis Mercedes Rinck have announced a new bill to ban grocery stores from engaging in algorithmic price gouging. Under the proposal, companies would be barred from using sensitive personal info to set different prices for different customers.
with @kelabe.bsky.social closing in on Sharon Tomiko Santos after today’s drop it looks like he’ll eventually pull ahead once the more progressive Election Day votes are counted #waelex
Washington State counties are posting their Thursday tabulations. In D-on-D legislative races: - 48th District: Amy Walen (inc.) has fallen below 50%. Jessica Forsythe trails by just 443 votes. - 37th District: Sharon Tomiko Santos (inc.) is also losing ground. Kelabe Tewolde trails by 249 votes.
Anyone else get this text? Don’t buy into the disinformation. We need a ban on surveillance pricing now! Hard working families can’t afford surge pricing at the grocery store (or anywhere).
A ban on surveillance pricing—using people's private data to set prices—is already setting off the big retail and grocery companies, which bought Seattle Times banner ads and are sending mass texts to convince consumers it's in our best interest to let companies mine our data to decide what we pay.

Kelabe Tewolde at 46% against a 20 something year incumbent is huge! That will creep up over the next few days and he's got this race!

There’s only 6 hours left to vote in today’s primary elections. Only 20% of voters in King County have turned in their ballot so far. Boomers are out voting Gen Z by almost 5 to 1.
@finchfrii.bsky.social is 100% right. Vote by 8pm Aug. 4th! AND get involved in your community. Don’t let your vote be the end all be all of your civic action.
Fixing the problems we face requires more action in community than just voting, but I believe they also require voting, especially in primaries and local elections.

NEW: Young people are on the ballot this election, but can we please get young people to the ballot BOX? So far, King County voters 65+ account for 4 times as many ballots as people under 35. You have until 8pm Tuesday to close that gap!
