Some things I've learned about legislative advocacy, and I think my record speaks for itself. 1. Start by asking for everything you want. Stop preemptively negotiating against yourself. The process of passing the bill will whittle it down. Why started with a whittled down product?

He/him. Seattle. People should be able to walk and roll without dying.
Many people are saying that Dow Constantine hasn't done a press conference about the train derailment.
We still haven’t gotten that Dow Constantine press conference
Had a fantastic time hanging out with my neighbors tonight as part of night out.
I'm over here worried about inviting candidates I like to events that I am working on lest it be seen as @rvgreenways.bsky.social favoring a candidate and the tree people are literally posting an endorsement slate from their c3.
I think we should ban sports cyclists from descending. It's unsafe, and you can get going way faster than even professional cyclists can pedal uphill. Also anyone and everyone can descend, without a license! It's just not safe to go faster than 15mph.
Just did a quick check and as far as I can tell David Malcolm has absolutely no relevant expertise and has never done any bike or safe streets advocacy previously. Why did the Seattle Times Opinion publish his uninformed opinion?
Tree Action Seattle, a sponsored organization of the Seattle Parks Foundation - a 501(c)3 org - put up an Instagram post last night promoting candidates who had been endorsed by TreePAC. I do not believe that little disclaimer at the bottom is going to cut it here.

Maybe there's a compelling case beyond "kids are getting in bike crashes!!" to argue for heavy regulation of all e-bikes, but this op/ed doesn't make it. Lots of vague stats, unrelated/irrelevant info (teens have "hormones" and don't wear helmets), and unsupported claims ("ask any ER doc," etc.)
Kids can bike in the Southend why can't you?
"Who bikes in the Southend" quickly becoming "Who *doesn't* bike in the Southend?"
"Who bikes in the Southend" quickly becoming "Who *doesn't* bike in the Southend?"
It's one thing for the Seattle Times times to give orgs preferential access in their editorial pages, but it's absurd for them to publish this press release verbatim on the news side of the house. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...
Seattle’s big event organizers ask mayor to turn on police cameras
Katie Wilson has questioned the expansion of police cameras but approved their use during the World Cup events in Seattle.

Aesthetic NIMBYs can't even keep up the "housing for whomst" facade for two comments.
Simply incredible that we're finally going to fix the L8.
Has Sound Transit CEO Dow Constantine held a press conference about the train derailment yet?
Just want to check I didn't miss anything. Dow Constantine still hasn't held a press conference about the downtown portion of the system being shut down for 14 hours right?
I think it's unfair that Lake Washington Boulevard has played host to Seafair and Blue Angels for so long. Other parts of the city deserve to pay host to this amazing tradition!
Just thinking about how beautiful the Blue Angels would be over Union Bay. And all that parking available at UW and Magnuson Park. Would be an amazing place for Seafair.
One of the standard sermons that UU temporary ministers give is on toxic nostalgia and it's a seeking I wish I could force some people in Seattle to sit through.
Seattle Pessimism is a thing for real and it is mostly a nostalgic lamentation for a city that didnt actually exist and was supposed to die in the 70s and many imagine did...but for the next 40 years where it didnt, and in fact became one of the sizzle cities. Seattle as is refutes them every day
Everyone should go to reddit and tell r/seattlewa what a great idea this is, how they are 100% going to succeed, and that recall elections are almost free to run.
This should be the last year the bus lane on Rainier gets "opened" for Seafair drivers. This is not an effective way to move people, and it's completely unfair to transit dependent Rainier Valley residents. bsky.app/profile/mesm...
Explicitly open to cars. Cops were directing traffic at most intersections and telling people to drive in the bus lane.

it’s wild how many things get Benghazied up about Seattle and various facets of it. I’ve been reading stories about how the city is dying from pleasant little cafes for nearly a decade now. They are desperate for failure for some reason
I know I'm guilty of being part of this discourse, but if I was a family member or friend of any of the people killed at the Bite of Seattle I'd be pissed that the primary discussion is about the relationship between the mayor, chief of police, and council instead of about the tragedy.
ask them what they're mad about. that she fired the police chief? that she took too long to hold a press conference because she had to wait for the police chief who was flying back from yet another conference? do you hear how that sounds when you say it out loud
It couldn't be clearer what's happening with local legacy media trashing Mayor Wilson: the reactionary centrist majority is about to melt away & they're trying to bake in a narrative that she has fucked up in some catastrophic--but also indefinable--way, to hamstring the coming progressive majority
If a drive in can reimagine itself into a walk up restaurant with cafe tables what's stopping us from reimagining the former streetcar line Rainer Ave?

Is sound transit's CEO Dow Constantine really meeting the moment right now? Where's the communication about the train derailment? How many hours should we expect to be without a press conference to answer our questions?

I think the mayor should announce another 2 months of Bicycle Weekends at The Big Day of Play.
As for folks in the Wilson admin, I'll refer them to my previous advice. Unleash the superblocks! bsky.app/profile/bret...
I think every able bodied person that lives in the wui should be required to own an emergency evacuation ebike that they use to keep roads clear for disabled people and first responders.
I for one think it shows a real lack of clarity and ability to lead. Why couldn't they announce this change earlier in the day. Are we sure the Seafair organization is really up to the task of running Seafair. We'll need to see clearer communication from them in the future.
Blue Angels air show canceled at Seafair due to wind
Absolutely incredible that Westneat and other critics of the mayor believe Shon Barnes was appointed by her and that SHE should have "worked out" his desire to travel constantly with him as part of his contract, when he was appointed by Bruce Harrell in 2024. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...
Seattle City Hall rarely runs smoothly. This week it hit new lows
The spectacle of the neophyte mayor and the frequent flyer police chief, both failing at their jobs when they were needed most, is not going to pass lightly.
