My most important pro tip about surviving publishing: Have a sense of humor. It has been instrumental in me surviving nine years, four books, two publishers...and still wanting to do this crap.
Started a scary but exciting new journey last week where I am betting on myself and writing full time for six months. Still trying to figure the work schedule out (thanks @vmburnsbooks.bsky.social for the hand holding) but this is today’s office.
The NYPD officer killed by the active shooter was an immigrant from Bangladesh. He had 2 kids and a 3rd on the way. The US State Dept travel advisory for Bangladesh is level 3; “Reconsider Travel” for violence, crime and terrorism. He died here, for us, shot with a Colt M4 rifle. Think about that.
