Sustainable transport and car optional cities. I lead a small company focused on public transport, urban design, parking reform and investment advice. Auckland, New Zealand.

Not to be all “we told you so”… …but we did, in fact, tell everyone so. Repeatedly. And with receipts. 🤷🏻‍♀️😎 👉 www.greaterauckland.org.nz?s=Rons Now that reality is sinking in at last, can we please get back to planning and building right-sized, rational, resilient and multi-modal transport networks?

NEW: Chris Bishop has unveiled the Govt's major backdown on the Roads of National Significance, with just six with guaranteed construction dates. Here's 2023 promises v now:

If Auckland, NZ, were a U.S. city, it'd be our fifth-largest. Its story is remarkable. One in five homes in Auckland has been built since 2017, and prices are down 20% from their pandemic peak. In today's third episode of YIMBY Country, two experts share the numbers of a wildly successful reform.

While I think "enthusiasm to visit the US as measured by visits to the US" data is now (getting into April) also being affected by war wobbles and fuel price cost of living issues, I did have cause to update this graph today, so am sharing it.

Countries the US has threatened to invade are not keen to be tourists. NZ is also pretty yeah-nah.
