The problem with Terry Pratchett’s oft-quoted “boots theory” is no boots will ever last a lifetime. There are, rather, boots that will last if you pay a cobbler to replace the soles, insoles, laces, etc. on a regular basis. Ignoring the lifetime maintenance costs is an economic fallacy

WHOA DHS does not say that the agent feared for his life… just the vague concern for “public safety.” So he killed him just because he did not want him in America, not because of any specific threat to agents?

One of the reasons I love Nab so much is he was so unwilling to compromise and say nice, bland things like “ah yes, _Quiet Flows the Don_, what a beautiful book, it really shows the true Russian soul, the Nobel Prize committee sure knows how to pick them”

And *none* of this was even common right-wing belief just a decade ago. The radicalization has happened incredibly quickly, and they were very receptive to it. That’s key for understanding the enemy here.

Trump did not reach a settlement with the government. There was no case to settle. He has not created a slush fund. He has colluded with Todd Blanche to steal money from the US Treasury. This is not a “deal.” This is a crime for which Trump & Blanche must be prosecuted. It ia a crime.

That people died for these rights is not a metaphor. It is a literal truth. And the opposition to racial equality has always been willing to inflict catastrophic violence. Much more so than its proponents. This isn’t hyperbole, it’s history.

All adults and some children on ICE flights—some 50 flights a day now—are shackled at the wrists and ankles attached to a chain around their waists. I have spoken to migrants and their attorneys who report being shackled for 50, 75, and 82 hours while being deported. Flight data backs this up.
