“There were ICUs that were empty all over the country, including in New York at the height.” Typical antivaxxer lying bullshit that dishonors the dead and the health care workers who risked their lives to fight the pandemic. singjupost.com/transcript-o...

Harvey & Joyce's adopted daughter Danielle is trying to raise funds to deal with Pekar's raw archive; basically four storage lockers full of notes, outlines, ideas, etc. Note this is not Pekar's comics per se. Those rights have been tied up in court for years. Long, ugly story. Worth backing.

His Name was Harvey Pekar

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

An aircraft passenger oxygen mask: a drop down passenger mask with air bag and yellow plastic mouth and nose cover, oxygen tube has been cut; Demonstration model used by flight attendant crew for passenger instruction. Has text on the side indicating that it's non-functional.

I don’t want people’s takeaway from this post to be that the only people who need to worry about Long Covid are people with seasonal allergies. The point is that healthy people get long covid and none of us know yet what exactly makes someone vulnerable. So be a good neighbor. Mask up.

I'm psyched for the upcoming release of the Rubber Soul box sets. Not that I can afford to buy any of them. But I'll stream them on YouTube Music and watch all the Beatles nerds on YouTube rave/rant about them. It's the EMI-vs-Capitol release discourse I crave.

I re-read The Odyssey about 8 years ago. Not the Emily Wilson translation, although I looked for it based on the recommendation of a friend who had written a book on Homer's influence on modernist writers. My local store didn't have it and I was impatient, so I grabbed Robert Fagles. It was good!

Finished "A Very Irregular Head" last night. Likely the best Syd Barrett biography we will ever get. ("Dark Globe" is also very good, but lacks details about his later life.) My favorite bit: a little girl interrupts Syd's gardening to ask if a make-believe horse can fly. He confirms it can.
