2/2 Which is partially why his identity is VERY low-key in the book. The other reason is because, at the time, I felt insecure about writing an identity I didn't know a lot about. I didn't know *I* was nonbinary when I was writing TOS, and Jekku is one of the characters who helped me figure it out 🥹

Almost all of my books have at least 1 nonbinary character, and I knew all of them were enby from the start— except for Jekku (from The Oracle Stone). He'd always been pretty gender non-conforming, but it wasn't until later drafts of TOS that it occurred to me he's enby. 1/2
