There. Are. No. Trans. Women. In. The. WNBA. This whole conversation is a racist trap and long circuitous argument that always comes back to insulting cisgender Black women by calling them not women. In particular it attacks: Brittany Griner, Liz Cambage, and A'Ja Wilson.

only sorta, but these people don’t want to talk about how the unofficial but official policy for the united states for like six months was covid is only killing black people and that’s Good, bc their core idea is the response to covid was needlessly alarmist and its hard not to see that as racist

The problem with What Should We Have Done About COVID discourse is that it’s all Monday morning quarterbacking with the much better information we have now compared to then, and is about what we should have done now that we know instead of how we should have acted with imperfect information then

When disabled people/many people who work on disability/health pointed to the dangers of this kind of framing since COVID, they were usually mocked ("oh you think everything is eugenics") or ignored. But normalising the idea that the deaths of disabled people are desirable/reassuring is dangerous.

This is actual antisemitism - not because it’s criticizing Israel, but because it attributes agency over all migration to Israel, with no evidence. This is just the Great Replacement conspiracy, and it is ultimately far-right. Such conspiracism is going to destroy the left, if it isn’t policed.

What if they had something called “second bagels” and they were just like regular bagels, but half the size, so when your first bagel was so perfect and delicious and you want more, you have an option that won’t fill your tummy with regret

I know this would be closing the barn door after he horse has been reelected president, but if Democrats win both chambers I'd really like to see a concurrent resolution deeming January 6 an insurrection under 14(3). 1/

Perfect tiny bee! 🐝 Alfalfa leafcutter bee, a male Megachile rotundata, chilling on a mountain mint blossom. It’s a nice cool day so he was very cooperative and stayed still while I took a billion shots 😅

A beautiful tiny leafcutter bee with yellow fur and bright, pale-green eyes. His antennae are stretched out, and his sharp jaws are open. He is perched on a mountain mint blossom against a darker background.

And in today’s [mis]adventures in food preservation…. Well, I got a great deal on cherries, very thankful, because I can now open the last jar of brandy cherries I’ve been holding onto.

Cherries, as far as the eye can see!

16lbs of dark sweet cherries, minus the obviously bad ones, picked and rinsed and laid out in grey kitchen towels, waiting to be pitted and canned.

Tomatoes are always so late here, but they are finally coming in, and the plants are heavy with fruit. My favorite time of year has begun - welcome to The Tomatoing!
