We are witnessing a tipping point. Boreal forests that stored carbon for 1000s of years are now CARBON EMITTERS. Heatwaves make wildfires. Wildfires make more heat. More heat makes more fires. This feedback loop is what scientists warned you about.

Global sea-surface temperatures just reached their 50th consecutive record hot day and are expected to continue to rise for another month. This is so far beyond 'bonkers' (technical climate science term) that the Climate 8-ball has decided to start drinking early today.

To climate deniers: You said it was a hoax when 18M hectares burned in Canada in 2023. You ignored it when 2025 became Norway's hottest year ever. Now forests above the Arctic are burning while Canada's smoke reaches Europe. At what point will you reflect?

SSTs have been record territory since 17 Jun "So?" some say. This translates into among other things - marine ecosystem stress - lower oxygen in seawater - increased humidity leading to more dangerous heat on land - intensification of heatwaves - impacts on fisheries This is a full-blown crisis

Sea surface temperature 960ºS-60ºN

The graphic shows SSTs in record territory since 17 Jun 2026

A generation betrayed by a politics, a media & a society lacking the conscience, the courage & the imagination to end an economic system that necessitates the burning of their futures, their hopes & their dreams. The most shameful betrayal in the history of our species.

Oxford, the longest running continuous weather station in UK history, with temperature observations stretching back to 1815, has preliminarily broken its maximum temperature record for May yesterday by OVER 3ºC with a temperature of 33.7ºC. Unprecedented in its 211-year history.

Spaghetti chart showing Oxford Radcliffe Observatory daily maximum temperatures for every day of the year from 1815 to 2026. 211 years of historical data are shown as very faint grey lines tracing a seasonal cycle from around 5°C in winter to a summer peak of roughly 25–30°C in July and August. A blue smoothed 30-day mean line highlights the average annual temperature cycle. The 2026 line is shown in bold red, running from January through to late May before spiking sharply upward to reach 33.7°C on 26 May, well above the entire historical grey envelope for that time of year. A single dashed red reference line marks the previous May record of 30.6°C set on 29 May 1944. The 2026 reading exceeds this by 3.1°C and, in statistical terms, is the 6th most anomalous maximum temperature in Oxford's 211-year record, ranking as the most anomalous May maximum ever observed and coming within 0.6°C of the all-time June record of 34.3°C set in 1976.

"Using satellite data spanning decades as well as recent field measurements, the study's authors found that between 1984 and 2022 approximately 25,000 acres of farmland was lost to sea level rise in the #Chesapeake and #Delaware Bay watersheds, despite preventative measures taken by local farmers"

Sea level rise is swallowing US Mid-Atlantic farmland faster than expected, study finds

Ghost forests, the cemetery-like groupings of dead trees killed by saltwater intrusion, have become haunting symbols of sea level rise overtaking land along the Mid-Atlantic coast. But a new study pub...

Nothing to see here, just the second hottest day on record in the Nino 3.4 region, with El Nino just getting started. Over/Under 29.5 by Nov How hot will it get? The Climate Casino is giving an Over/Under of 29.9°C by December 1, 2026. The Climate 8-ball is taking the over.

In case you haven't been keeping track, a quick update. Nino 3.4 is now predicted to peak at roughly 3.6°C over the 1991-2020 baseline in late October or early November. Climate change is not good for children and other living things.

Comparing the devastating 1877 El Niño that killed millions with where we’re headed in 2026 is like comparing 2 different planets. We should be worried. But we should also be furious. Decades & decades have been squandered, & now we’re on track to lose everything.

When will we first reach 2°C of warming? A simple heuristic: We passed 0.5°C in 1980. 1°C in 2010 -30 years later. 1.5°C in 2024 - 14 years later. Add another 0.5°C in 14 years, we hit 2°C by 2038. Assuming the rate stays constant.

Line chart titled 'Warming milestones are arriving faster' showing annual mean temperature anomaly (°C) versus the 1850–1900 baseline from 1940 to 2040. A jagged orange line shows yearly values while a smooth white line shows the trend. Three red milestone dots are labeled: 0.5°C reached in 1980, 1.0°C in 2010 (30 years later), and 1.5°C in 2024 (14 years later). A dashed white line projects the trend forward, reaching 2.0°C around 2038 — an estimated 14 years after the 1.5°C milestone.
