The Welsh Gender Service has cancelled all gender-affirming surgeries for patients on the NHS with immediate effect, according to QueerAF and What The Trans!? This includes pre-operative assessments and scheduled surgeries. Some trans patients received this news just days or even hours before their procedures, as revealed in NHS correspondence sent to them. While I don’t have precise figures for the number of Welsh Gender Service (WGS) patients scheduled for gender-affirming surgery, hundreds will be immediately affected. Last year, nearly 1,500 people were waiting for their first appointment at the WGS.

Yesterday marked 27 months since I started HRT. Let's discuss what has changed in the last month. What has changed this month? Well, all I can say is this month things have slowed down. This is normal during your HRT journey. For example, in month 26 everything was going at full speed but this month it’s all stopped. Don’t panic though; things will eventually return to normal. How does this effect your mental health? When I began HRT it affected my mental health. I wondered if I’d done something wrong or if the medication had simply stopped working.
