Just got to the international terminal at Toronto-Pearson during the ending of the match...Spanish fans are cheering up and down the terminal. Here is a small bit after the initial cheer at the end of the game.

New meta by @peterhaehner.bsky.social et al (I'm a little middle author) on individual differences in personality change across the lifespan (229 studies, N = 230k) 10.1037/bul0000525 Cool finding (imo): For all Big Five, variance in change is greatest in youth, declining through young adulthood!

Individual differences in change for each of the Big Five across ages 0 to 80. The trend for each trait is that individual differences in change are decreasing with age.

Yeah, this was incredibly unpleasant last night. At a minimum, some warning would have been nice. I assumed it was making up for Canada Day once I realized it was fireworks. But sometimes, I wonder if some people on Council forget that people actually *live* in the city and don't just drive in.

FYI, councillors received no notice that they were going to let off the Canada Day fireworks at 11pm last night. It seems that it was determined that it was safer to do this than try to remove the unexploded shells from Lemieux Island. But on a week night, so late, with no notice = unacceptable.

We made an open repository of close relationships measures. Our goal is to catalogue all of the published self-report measures in relationship science. You can help us expand the database by suggesting measures you tend to use in your research, or by uploading your own measures! relascale.com

Canada is getting ready to ban social media for kids under 16. The quote going around by cabinet minister Marc Miller: "it's obvious why it's a priority. Kids are dying." Every death by suicide is a tragedy but the numbers don't support this claim. I pulled Statistics Canada data to illustrate: 🧵

Graph showing deaths by suicide among 10-14 year olds and 15-19 year olds in Canada, annually from 2000 to 2024. Neither death rates nor actual countable deaths are increasing over time, and for the older group, the year 2024 was the lowest number of deaths by suicide this century.

Thrilled to share a new consensus statement just published in Nature Mental Health: "Ambulatory assessment in mental health: expert consensus and recommendations" Glad to have contributed to this group effort. Open-access read cube link here: rdcu.be/fnxDZ
