Just a peaceful nurse, personal trainer, and goofball escaping the Trump/Elon-fueled hate against queer folks. X is a mess right now, while Bluesky has become a safe haven for the LGBTQ+community. 🏳️‍🌈Happy camper 😆 because nobody is coming to save you.

NEWS: Rep. Chuck Edwards (R-NC) just dropped out of his re-election race at 3:32 a.m.m. He said he’s done running but will finish out his term. This after the House Ethics Committee found “substantial reason to believe [he] violated House Rules related to sexual harassment and hostile workplaces.”

“When a country with less than five percent of the world's population has nearly half of the world's privately owned guns and makes up nearly a third of the world's mass shootings, it's time to stop saying guns make us safer.” ..(DaShanne Stokes) .. (cartoon David Horsey)

Frances Perkins was the patron saint of American workers and an inspiration for me during my time as labor secretary. She was the guiding light behind the creation of Social Security, the 40-hour workweek, the National Labor Relations Act, and much more.

Today's Prospect Patriot is Frances Perkins. She saw the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory go ablaze in 1911 and her life changed. "The New Deal was born that day," she said. 22 years later she'd be America's first female cabinet member. prospect.org/2026/08/04/a...

A gracious concession: “I want to congratulate Abdul El-Sayed on winning the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate. He is a doctor, a community health official, a Rhodes Scholar, and a dedicated Michigander. I am proud to offer my support as he takes on Mike Rogers in the general election…

Outgoing Senators John Cornyn and Thom Tillis are reportedly undecided about Todd Blanche's nomination for AG. A single GOP "No" vote in committee this Thursday could tank Blanche's nomination entirely. Call and tell them to reject Blanche: (202) 224-3121

America has a demented president running the country and the people who voted for him, or couldn't get themselves to vote for Harris so they stayed home or voted 3rd party, are responsible for this damn mess. Anyone with a lick of sense could have seen this coming.

Dear god, can you just imagine it: tech execs fearing for their lives: being killed in their cars; pursued & kidnapped. Tortured and abused in concentration camps. Sent to hell hole prisons in foreign countries. Oh wait. That’s not Tech execs, that what ICE is doing to citizens & legal immigrants.

Mounting opposition to AI has given rise to a surge of violent rhetoric, threats against people and property. The phenomenon has tech companies increasing security budgets, hiring armed guards and advising employees to hide corporate logos.

It works well in Australia and has, for the most part, kept our politics sensible. To get the full Aussie experience the Brits must adopt the democracy sausage, ie delicious high fat emulsified offal tubes on white bread served by parents raising funds for schools at polling places.

1/ Great reporting in The Times on the emerging momentum behind support for compulsory voting, which @ippr.org called for a couple of weeks ago: www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/...

I was excited when they talked about a place called Tumbleton in House of the Dragon but disappointed that it didn’t turn out to be a town where people were super into gymnastics.
