Watching The Steam Controller Announcement in style (ignore the background)
For quite a lot of people this seems to come out as a surprise that the Steam Controller is not in fact a budget option. I thought from the beginning that the price is probably going to be on the rather high end side. Considering all the features it has, this is easily closer to the higher ends.

Me when I see genAI-assisted ports of old PC games with ghastly art and barely functioning executables that are hundreds of megabytes in size.
Garry's Mod is a sandbox, s&box is a game engine. I think this summarizes my feelings towards these two pretty good. I don't think s&box is bad. I'd say I approached it with the wrong expectations.

This is an excellent analogy, because my recollection from grade school is that the pen on the right looks fun and exciting, and then you play with it for a few minutes and realize it's not actually useful for anything and in fact makes some tasks more cumbersome, and never think about it again.
