There is no other show like @thepoduniverse.com — it’s audio fiction, it’s movie discussion, it’s a writers workshop — and that has made it really challenging to market. I know there are people out there who would love it; There are people who love it right now. But we are nowhere near sustainable.

Last year my podcast was about to be the subject of a Polygon feature, and I felt like we were finally on the brink of our “big break.” Then the site was sold and the writer was fired. (On May Day, no less!) Our show has only gotten better but our audience remains static. I often wonder “what if?”

Kirby is a year younger than me and he needs to get his life together. I asked him if he knows how to pay taxes and he looked at me with a stupid blank look. We're failing younger generations so if he has to learn how to pay rent and cook meals now, I think it is about time.

If you need more reason to avoid Substack (and their transphobia and platforming of Nazis wasn't enough): Vance Boelter, the man who murdered Melissa and Mark Hortman and shot the Hoffmans, is posting rants on Substack about Democrats and fraud and is clearly attempting to taint the jury pool.
