Brian Owendoff now introduces himself as a former “rose quarter committee member”, in case any marks want to pretend that project isn’t captured by demons rn

And to think, we could have taken some millions of $’s from the police and put it towards funding social services. Instead we have a police department that defunds itself by spending all of its money on flying in weird paid signature gatherers for petitions that fail.

Looks like Portland Police aren't going to be able to raid PCEF to hire more cops when they can't even hire for the positions they already have open.....sorry about your luck!

Left-punch all you want, 24 of the 26 years the building sat empty were under the old charter hegemony. It might be easier to redevelop abandoned warehouses then pay officers to watch them 24/7 for 25 years.

Evil billionaire: I hate you and everything you stand for. Give me $900 million. City council: what will you spend it on? Can you tell us? The Oregonian: how toxic. You are “chumming the waters with billionaire sentiment”.

Among the positives: Top executives for the team showed up to the council's work session after having skipped recent public meetings about funding a renovation of the city-owned Moda Center for the Blazers. The city councilors who for months have been chumming the waters with anti-billionaire bombast kept their performances mostly professional and on point. And as District 4 Councilor Eric Zimmerman noted, there appeared to be a solid majority on the council committed to reaching a responsible deal that keeps the Blazers in Portland in exchange for the city's $120 million share of a $573 million state-and-local package.

@pbotinfo.bsky.social is at this public works committee saying that no transformative elements on W Burnside rebuilt b/c the rebuild will be phased. I’ve played this game before. Repaving will happen, in 5 years when no one’s paying attention the transformative elements will get quietly cut.

I just want to appreciate zohran mamdani who has really done the work on this issue and talks about free transit as part of a comprehensive package of transit improvements (that he is implementing right now). very much someone I’m happy to respectfully disagree with on this

Mayor Karen Bass@mayor.lacity.gov · 2w ago

As Chair, I’ll build a long-term financial plan to make Metro fare-free. I’ve fought for a world-class transit system my entire career because public transit should create opportunity for everyone.
