And this is the way to sell Space to people at large. “Data Centres in Orbit” frankly sounds as ghastly as Data centres anywhere else. But satellites actually being useful really cuts through.

Agree completely with @mentges.bsky.social here. Starlink is a game changer for so many reasons. Economic, military, governance (and the obvious tech/engineering advances). It's just such a shame about the person masterminding it all.

I went to see Jimmy Cricket at Billingham Forum. He put on a two hour show and waited outside for pictures and signing autographs with anyone who wanted one. He was there for a further hour and half and was utterly lovely. RIP to a wonderful chap.

Many scopies based at RAF Buchan and RAF Saxa Vord during the #ColdWar would have tracked the SR-71s based in the UK. They’d head north on reconnaissance flights and then we’d see them return. Always made a night shift at Saxa more interesting to see them coming back. #RadarLove

An amazing day celebrating all things SR-71 at the American Air Museum at IWM Duxford today, meeting the real crews, demonstrating the heat resistant strength of the Blackbird's materials and a bit of friendly competition between the IWM volunteers and the RAF cadets on the reaction test!

I’m not offering this as an absolute, or an unchallengeable statement. But I think there is a defensible argument to be made that Paul McCartney is the greatest song writer of the 20th Century based on his c20 output and the greatest songwriter of the 21st Century based only on his c21 output.

Spain commits up to $2.3 billion for national military communications for IRIS²

WARSAW, Poland — The Spanish government announced it will allocate between 1.6 billion and 2 billion euros ($1.8 to $2.3 billion) to develop a national military satellite communications constellation that could be integrated into the planned IRIS² multi-orbit satellite internet constellation. The project was presented during the July 29 meeting of Spain’s National Committee for Technological Security and Sovereignty, a government body, during which the Ministry of Defense discussed the addition of 15 new special modernization programs (SMPs) planned for 2026 and the National LEO Capability program planned for 2027.

The current antic of the FAA and the FCC are endangering my only meaningful contribution to the study of space, and indeed all law. I should be remembered alongside the greats: Hart, Fuller, Chitty. I have divined two distinct categories of law. Happy Law (Space Law) Sad Law (Most other law)
