as noted yesterday, Trump has now come around to treating an Iranian toll system covering the Strait of Hormuz as a given. Hard to overstate the level of strategic failure. US started the war purely as a war of choice and ends up dramatically empowering Iran and given the Iranian govt big wins.

"Making fees voluntary, at least nominally, could be a way out of the impasse, although an implied threat of Iranian attacks could mean shippers would be unlikely to risk transit without paying."

It would be amazing if the Angels brought Mozeliak in off the street a month ago, had him trade like seven guys, and then replaced him after the season. Like even by Angels standards that would be interesting to me. Also, re: "by Angels standards" it's not clear to me it's worse than status quo.

In terms of what I want to do, I don’t know the answer to that yet.” Mike Trout wasn’t going anywhere at the deadline so Mo said he invited Trout into the Angels’ “trade room.”

Matt Gelb@mattgelb.bsky.social · 2d agoDon Mattingly said the plan is for Bryce Harper to play RF, Alec Bohm to play 1B and Bryson Stott to be at 3B. Luis Arraez will be here Tuesday. Mattingly said the Phillies will have to “ease” Harper into right field, and it’s unclear how they will do that.
Devin Williams is gonna be quite lonely in that Mets bullpen for the next couple of months.

If MLB was run by people that actually cared about the sport and its legacy and history, they would shut this stupidity down with a quickness. Alas, Manfred and his fucks are too busy planning a lockout and trying to figure out how to ruin the sport even more.
