Hungary’s PM-elect Peter Magyar says he would enact an ICC arrest warrant for Israeli PM Netanyahu and detain him on arrival. The election winner said Hungary would stay a member of the International Criminal Court which his predecessor Viktor Orban began withdrawing from last year.
WTAF? Why are we losing life guards at beaches - among so many other cuts?
The City of Vancouver has just announced they had a $530 million surplus last year. It follows a $860 million surplus the year before, and years of $300+ surpluses. It's the annual reminder that when local politicians say times are tough, they're usually being misleading to suit their agendas.
Orbán's electoral crushing is a far greater achievement than most people outside Hungary realise. He systemically consolidated power for 16 years, fixed the electoral map, abused govt power for political purposes & censored media. The hurdles that Hungarians overcame for this moment were immense.
Just loving how much we can watch live - for free - these days. I've watched Artemis ii, the Hungarian election results and street party, and now fka twigs at Coachella. So used to the enshitification of the web, it's nice to notice the good things we never used to have.
analogy for the America brained is like if the Dems lost to Trump four times in a row and then ran Mitt Romney to save the country and won crazy supermajorities and also Mitt Romney was named Johnny America
Tisza now at 132 seats, one seat away from supermajority.
One night before the elections the great people of Hungary are on the streets, rejecting the malicious influence coming from Russia, Serbia and certain people from the USA. The crowds are huge across the country. They can write history tomorrow.
Sounds like signal notifications on iPhones are not secure out of the box?
NEW: The FBI was able to forensically extract copies of incoming Signal messages from a defendant’s iPhone, even after the app was deleted, because copies of the content were saved in the device’s push notification database, multiple people present for FBI testimony in a trial told 404 Media.

Ring is a wildly dangerous company. Always has been. But it has sort of flown under the radar the last couple years as it tried to soften its image. Make no mistake that this is an extremely dangerous surveillance dragnet: www.404media.co/with-ring-am...

I'm not one for false optimism. But what I witnessed today in Minneapolis was tremendous, both in scale and exuberance. It was a stunning answer to the federal assault on Minnesota, a show of solidarity that gives us something to hold on to during times that are unforgiving.
“Everybody Showed Up”: Stunning Crowds at Minnesota Day of Strike and Shutdown Against ICE
Extreme cold didn't stop the shutdown on Friday as some 100 faith leaders were arrested, residents stayed home from work, and an estimated 50,000 or more marched through downtown Minneapolis.

If the admin's strategic goal was to break public resistance to immigration enforcement activities, it was a tactical mistake to go to the Twin Cities.
I wrote about Minneapolis. nymag.com/intelligence...
ICE has kidnapped so many people from their cars that the city had to put out this statement. Let that sink in.
Vehicles that are abandoned due to an ICE detention and towed to the City's impound lot will be released to their owners or a representative at no cost. Learn more: https://www.minneapolismn.gov/getting-around/parking-driving/impound-lot/#d.en.200746
As a social movements scholar, I absolutely love the diversity of tactics being developed by each city, reflecting their local flavor Portland kept it weird with inflatable costumes Chicago protected its street vendors by buying up their food each day Charlotte chased ICE agents into the woods
